5.0 out of 5 stars words fail, May 11, 2007
By BMusic (Woodland Hills, CA United States) - See all my reviews
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I've never before played a video game that made me laugh out loud. But this one does that and more. Sure, there are more realistic games out there. But one doesn't always want realism when one is playing a game. Sometimes one wants to breakdance on the ball to the tune of Herbie Hancock's "Rock-It," then leap off Shaq's back, land standing on the rim, and throw down a MASSIVE dunk that sounds literally like a bomb while the name of one's hometown flashes on the screen. I know it's not original (old fans of NBA Jam will know what I mean), but the brilliant idea of combining real-world playgrounds and NBA stars with the physics of fantasy games makes this a game anyone can love.

I haven't felt inspired to write an Amazon review for years. And I'm 40 years old. This game is straight-up SICK.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Franchise Has Regressed, December 24, 2007
By Brett G (Las Vegas, NV) - See all my reviews
Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I am huge fan of the NBA Street franchise. I played both the first and second ones completely through with numerous fully maxed created ballers. I did not play the third one. I can not understand why EA would take out the best features of the second one. The create-a-baller options are now templates you get to choose from (i.e. you choose guard then choose between a player skillset to replicate - Kobe, Vince Carter, AI) - you can't allocate points to skills, you can't choose the size/weight/height/speed of your player, you can't design your own face - you choose from like 20 options. Considering I like speedy guards who can dunk like an Andre Iguodala, have crazy handles but don't like to pass since I'm a ball hog, shoot threes all day if needed, and block shots like the best - tell me who does this? Or maybe I want a big man who has handles like Magic but power like Shaq. Horrible. The gamebreakers are slightly better as they leave you the ability to get up to 6 points, but the greedier you get the higher the possibility you get nothing as the opponent may steal it as you trick up the points. The shooting engine is too easy on this game, get a baller above 70 on shooting and he hits almost every three he shoots. The second one you would still be a more NBA lifelike 40-50% shooter from beyond the arc even at 100%. I'm not asking for that necessarily, but maybe only a 60-70% would be reasonable. Next up is, unlike the second one, you can't carry a team of 5 players and pick 3 to play against your opponent. It was always fun going big or small, or playing matchups. You choose 3, and if you want another player, you have to dump one and very likely not get him back. Lastly, one of the best parts of NBA Street 2 was the old school players. Jordan '86 and Jordan '93, Russell, Chamberlain, Earl Monroe, etc. I understand they can't put all the greats, but maybe a handful that could be unlocked like a Jordan, or other recent retired greats like Barkley, Magic, Bird, would have made up for this deficiency. If you are a first time NBA Street buyer and don't mind the out of date stats and player teams, I would suggest you get NBA Street 2, or rent NBA Street 3 and see if it's any good. But avoid this one. It's more refined then NBA Street 1, but considering that 1 came out of nowhere and put the franchise on the map over six years ago, I would rate 1 higher. The only positive for this entire game over the whole franchise are the double dunks - that's it. And this can barely offset the fact you can't choose your own dunks like in the second one. Your dunks are dictated to you by the position of your player. So, in ending, if waited this long to get this game, wait another year and get the next NBA Street. EA can only go up (I hope).

4.0 out of 5 stars Homecourt delivers! , July 14, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Home court is a 8.5 out of 10 in my eyes .... A lil' bit of botton smatcher but overall is a good game to go online and battLe it out with other playes, and friends. I own it for the xbox 360. Is great to play with others and the reason why I give it a 8.5 out of 10 instead of a full ten is because on carrier mode I got bored. I am a Old school Nba fan and new school Nba street and tht is the eason why I own this game. It's a must buy if you are a basketball fan.

Hope ny review helps Peace!
