Product Description

“Bloodlines” is a story I came up with one night while watching a favorite classic horror flick. As has been stated many times in the writing industry, “Nothing is new …” I decided to use my own twists and plot lines to create characters' of a family of four; caring parents and their offspring. These four family members are survivors', wondering through a world of violence and madness. I'm sure that from start to finish the reader will enjoy the exciting exploits of these courageous individuals.

About the Author

I was born a sharecroppers son, a few miles outside Kennett, Missouri. I grew up on the farm and led a very sheltered life until I was drafted into the US Army in 1969. After serving my country as a medic, then a tank-crew member, clerk, intelligence specialist and military policeman, I went into law enforcement and spent twenty plus years as a patrolman, sergeant, detective, training officer and assistant chief of police. I held a license for six years as a private detective, served as a councilman and then was voted in as Village president. I'm married with six children and an increasing group of grandchildren. I now work in corporate security, having retired from the police department. I am the a! uthor of two books, Dreams In Blue: The Real Police and Rubal. Both can be found at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Neighbors to Bad Rubbish. Or... Bad Neighbors to Good Rubbish?, June 17, 2007
By Linda G. Shelnutt "Author" (Hotchkiss, CO USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Horror might be Huffman's natural genre. His words flow like melted butter ... or maybe warmed blood. The opening of the story captured immediately, then riveted my focus into a series of unexpected plot swirls, slipping from horror to human normalcy between instants of fetid breath smoothing out into a peaceful family scene. Questions continue being raised, collecting in geometric fashion calculating to perfectly acceptable madness.

Here's a switch of a twist. You'll have to read the story to see how it is one:

>> "But Dad, why would you do something like that?" Doug asked, a look of astonishment and horror crossing his young features. <<

Does warmth and humor exist among Werewolves? Sure. Why not? Might they provide a service to humanity? Well? Just another minority subculture? It's natural as can be, when narrated by Huffman.

A snippet of effectively worded plot action: >> Sounds of a tremendous struggle came from the woods nearby, brush being crushed and tree limbs snapped: then total silence. <<

Criminals Vs Good Guy crime stoppers come in all forms and lifestyles.

An interesting way to conclude the tale. I could hear the newscast fading in the background.

Definitely a delightful horror short to cook up with a barbeque, bad blood begone.

So, now I know: Horror can give light and grin-worthy off-shoots from the dense and grim. Even I can handle this as relaxing, engrossing entertainment.

Good one, Huffman.
