A musical trip / Un viaje musical, December 12, 2007
There are many instrumental praise and worship CDs. A lot of them are very cold and repetitive. They are, in a many cases, collections of songs that are popular at the time in the churches and are interpreted by someone on a keyboard. The result tends to be barely tolerable in small doses, like what you would get in an elevator going up a couple of floors. Pedro Eustache offers the opposite with his CD. It is not only his selection is different, not just for the mere fact that they are hymns, because there are plenty CDs of instrumental hymns, but because the particular hymns that he chooses. It is evident the intentionality of the artist. It is not a plain collection of "favorites" or "beloved" but it is something that is meaningful for the artist and therefore allows him to transmit something to his audience. The different musical styles allow the listener to travel from European Cathedrals to American mega churches, both traditional and contemporary, and then visit small sanctuaries in South America and maybe a house church in Asia; you could even visit what could be a congregation in Calcutta where Brazilian musicians are playing. It is this mix, this variety that bring the pieces alive, that allow the CD to transmit that something else.
The absence of vocals singing the hymns is not a problem; most of the hymns are well known enough (by those seeking a Hymns CD) that by listening to the melodies the lyrics will flood the mind. Even if this was not the case, this versions offer a tremendous opportunity for our minds and hearts to create their own lyrics and prayers. The execution generates a language maybe like that of Psalm 19, without the sound of voices, no language, no words.

IT'S A WINNER!!!, August 3, 2007
In my mind Pedro Eustache is one of the most talented & versetile artists in the world today. Pedro uses his outstanding God given talent to give great musical personality & flexability to all the tracks, while at the same time expressing Gods great love for all mankind through some of the greatest hymns of all time.
God Bless You Pedro,
