Product Description

A man buys a Mogwai as a Christmas present for his son. The young boy is told to keep the pet away from water, out of the light and never to feed it after midnight. Inadvertently, the creature is dampened and almost instantly, produces half a dozen furry replicas of itself --which continue to multiply and turn the small town upside-down.

5.0 out of 5 stars A comical horror christmas classic!, December 13, 2007
By John Lindsey "John" (Socorro, New Mexico USA.) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Inventor Randy Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) has bought a special gift for his son Billy (Zack Gallaghan) and it's a furry Chinese creature called a Mogwai (voiced by Howie Mandall). But there are three important rules that must be followed if he wants to keep the creature such as number 1 which means to keep him away from bright light especially sunlight cause it will kill him, number 2 is to never get him wet and number 3 which is the most important rule of them all which is never feed them after midnight. But Billy does what he can but he accidently gets him wet one day and it makes him mutiply other Mogwaii like him and he accidently feed the Mogwaii except Gizmo after midnight as it makes them into ghastly reptilian ghouls that cause havok in the town of Kingston Falls.

Brilliant and highly original Horror fantasy comedy from executive producer Steven Spielburg, director Joe Dante ("The Howling") and writer Chris Columbus. This movie became one of the biggest box-office hits of 1984 and of all time, this movie has a great sense of charm and of course black humor thrown into it with gruesomeness. The film co-stars Corey Feldman, Phoebe Cates and Dick Miller and special appearences by Robby the Robot and Chuck Jones, this movie did caused some controversy when it came out because parents thought it was too violent for small children even around the same time "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" came out. So the MPAA created the "PG-13" rating was created that year, i love how make-up artist Chris Walas did the lovable furballs and the hideous beasts and made them some of the most memorable creatures to hit the screen. The film has often been imitated much with films like "Critters 1 & 2" (Which are great movies in their own rights), "Ghoulies", "Munchies", "Beasites", "Elves", "Evil Toons", "Troll" and the worst one of them all "Hobgoblins", this one is a true must see even around the holidays.

This special edition DVD has excellent sound and picture with nice extras like deleted scenes, Trailers, 2 audio commentaries, behind the scenes featurette, photo and storyboard gallery and filmmaker and cast highlights.

Also recommended: "Gremlins 2 : The New Batch", "Black Christmas (1974)", "Small Soldiers", "Critters", "Critters 2", "C.H.U.D.", "The Pit", "Evil Dead II", "It's a Wonderful Life", "Grindhouse", "Silent Night Deadly Night", "E.T.", "Troll", "Dead Alive (a.k.a. Braindead)", "The Witches of Eastwick", "Cat's Eye" and "Monsters Inc."

5.0 out of 5 stars Gremlins Special Edition DVD, January 2, 2009
Don't Get Them Wet, Don't Get Them Near Light (Espicealy Sunlight, It'll Kill Them), and Never, Ever, Ever Let Them Eat After Midnight.

These Are The Rules of The Mogwii, A Pet Randall Peltzer Has Bought For His Tennage Son, Billy, For Christmas. But Shortly Aftyer A Few Days of The Mogwii Named Gizmo, The Rules Are Broken, and The Cute Little Fuzzy Mogwiis Turn Into the Slimy Green Evil Monsters Known As The Gremlins. Wen Thay're Not Watching SNOW WHITE at The Kingston Falls Movie Theatre, Thay're Attacking Inecent Pepole in The Small Town, and Distroy A Bar. So It's Up To Billy, Mogwii Gizmo, and Billy's Friend Kate To Help Save The Town From The Evil Green Slimy Monsters.

GREMLINS is An Absolute Clasic Horror/Comedy of the 80s Next BEETLEJUICE. Zach Galligan Plays Billy Peltzer, and For His First Film To Star In, He Was Great. Pheobe Cates (From FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMOUNT HIGH) Plays Kate Baringer, Billy's Girlfriend In The Film, is Absolutly Belivable and Great as A Girl Who Has A Bit of A Dark Secret of Her Christmas One Year as A Young Girl. Howie Mandel (Who's Done Voices in MUPPET BABIES & BOBBY'S WORLD) Plays The Voice of The Mogwii Gizmo, and The Voice is Very Cute and is Probly The Best Carecter in The Film.

The GREMLINS Look Fantastic and Are Brilliantly Evil (Even If Thay Do Watch SNOW WHITE).

I Also Recomend To See Critters (Simeler To GREMLINS) & The Sequel Gremlins 2: New Batch.

SPIECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE:
-Deleted Scenes
-Commentary By Directer Joe Dante, and Stars Zach Galligan, Pheobe Cates, Dick Miller, and Howie Mandel
-Commentary By Directer Joe Dante, Producer Micehal Finnell, and Gremlins Artist Chris Wallis
-Origanal 80s Production Making-Of Feature
-Photo/Storyboard Gallery
-Cast/Crew Film Highlights
-GREMLINS Trailer
-GREMLINS 2 Trailer

The CAST Commentartary/ The CREW Commentary is Always My Favorite Thing on DVDs, as Thay're Very Interesting To Figure Intresting History and Facts About The Film. The Deleted Scenes Are All Great, and Hopfully There Will Be An Extended Edition of GREMLINS and GREMLINS 2 Someday. The Origanal Making-Of Feature Back When The Film Was About To Come Out is Another Great Feature on The DVD as I Find It Interesting To See a Making-of Back During The 80s. Photo/Storyboard Galleries Ussally Bord Me, But The Ones on This DVD Were Grat, and Some Were Just Very Funny. CAST/CREW Film Highlights Are Always Good Cause You Might Just Know You Might've Seen An Actor In A Film Buit Couldn't Remember What The Title Was. The Trailers For both GREMLINS Films Are Great Fun As Well.

Though The Features Are Great, It Defenatly Needs More Accturally Be A Spiecial Edition.

Good movie for pre-teens and up. Contains blender and microwave scenes that might be a bit intense for very young kids.
