Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Dawn of a New Athens is the long awaited album for all fans of symphonic metal. After 4 years Aesma Daeva has compiled its strongest lineup. With Grammy award winning Producer Neil Kernon (Hall and Oats, Queensryche). This album comes with major label production and underground originality. The album opens with the doom metal epic Tiszas Child. A wonderful song featuring the choral voices and members of (Rose Ensemble and Vocal Essence) combined with the lead vocals of Lori Lewis (Therions touring vocalist 2007) This is one of the most emotion and colorful symphonic metal albums released. Guitars are handled by Earl Root Minneapoliss own Root of all evil ,(ex disturbed God Awful) Bass guitar covered by Chris Quinn (DODD, A Whisper in the Noise) Other Highlights include DOreste DAdjace from Mozarts recently censored opera Idomenio. It is a very original and well thought out arrangement with rock and roll tempo changes and groove, but never loosing the vocalists money runs that we are all waiting to hear. Easily matched in intensity is Since the Machine a dystopian epic of massive chords and massive proportions based on George Orwels 1984.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is pretty much incredible, December 24, 2007
The title pretty much says it all. Seriously, this may be my favorite Aesma Daeva album to date. Lori Lewis is a fantastic singer and the music is as good as it always is. Seriously, worth every penny.

3.0 out of 5 stars What did they intend?, December 17, 2007

(REAL NAME)
I wish I could give this cd five stars since they are a local Twin Cities band but I find this project boring. All the music is well played and it is obvious that the musicians are rich with talent. In fact the soprano singer is now with the great Swedish masters Therion. The problem is that the songs lack anything even resembling passion.
Since I am at heart a metal head, I have little tolerance for art for the sake of art. Bands like Nigtwish and Therion combine metal and elements of classical music to express ideas and they do it well. It seems to me that although Aesma Deava have talent they have nothing which they are trying to express apart from the fact that they have skill.
