Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Lil Boosie, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, sold over 15,000 copies of his 2001 release For My Thugs as an independent. By 2005 Boosie had signed with Universal Records and appeared on several Southern Smoke mixtapes. Now Boosie is back with some of his best material with Streetz Iz Mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boosie still on the grind, September 26, 2007
Boosie ain't no stranger to the game. He been grinding for years. A lot of people ain't heard of him outside of BR and the NO. Don't sleep on lil boosie. Trill ent. about to blow up. This is a mixtape/cd and if you want to cop it, you'd probably have better luck ordering it not unless you already in the southern region. Some of the hardest tracks on here include they dyking, jealousy, the intro, too much, beat it up, what about me; which is boosie saying that he ain't beefing with no rappers, let's get ignorant. The whole cd flows nicely. Cop it if you like that louisiana style music.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2-1/2 stars -- Dead end street, February 7, 2008
I never have been much of a fan of Lil' Boosie, especially after hearing that God-awful Survival of the Fittest compilation. But I checked out Streetz iz Mine anyway and I'm trying to remember exactly why I did so.

The cover of this album says it's digitally remastered (funny; I don't think Boosie has been out long enough to warrant a remaster of one of his albums), but actually, I really think this is more of a mixtape than a proper studio album, as in some places he quotes pimp-isms from years back (for instance, he name-checks J-Kwon on "What About Me"). At any rate, while I don't understand the purpose of rewinding the entire first verse on the title track (which is also the album's opener), that song is actually pretty solid. The REST of the album, however...

"U Down to Ride" is ALMOST good, but everything else is too bad to ignore, like "Jealousy", "I Got Dat" and the aptly titled "Let's Git Ignorant". Sexual songs also fail. "Beat It Up" actually tries to tell a story as well but fails miserably, and the obligatory ode to bisexual girls, "They Dykin", is revolting. And the aforementioned "What About Me" has Boosie doing more name-checking than a Game track. In short, if the streets are his, he can keep `em.
