Let me start out by saying that the product itself is great.
I use it every day, it looks great, and all my roommates now want one.
It's very practical, and actually quite sturdy.

If you are considering purchasing one, let me walk you through the caveats.

1. PRICE. This exact same item, let me repeat that for emphasis- the EXACT SAME ITEM, goes for very very VERY different prices depending on where you buy it from. I spent quite some time on google looking on various websites and it turns out that this item sells for $150 on some sites, and $80 on others. IDENTICAL.

2. I personally purchased mine off of amazon.com through Stacks & Stacks. PROBLEMS - Firstly, I ordered 2 items from Amazon.com via Stacks&Stacks. The other item was a shoe rack. I received the shoe rack on time, however, despite the shipping charges I paid for both items to be shipped together within that week, I received the valet stand over a week late. Secondly, there was a big problem, that warrants its own bullet point.

3. IT CAME BROKEN. I failed to notice this until I assembled the item. The flap part that opens and closes at the top of the stand, where you put your wallet and keys, specifically the compartment that opens upwards (not the little drawer) was very damaged - beyond repair. Yet because I failed to notice this until the very end, I just kept it. I tried calling to complain, but the wait times and inconvenience of disassmbling the entire thing and repacking it and shipping it back to them let me to just keep it. Call me lazy, but I am not going through THAT much trouble to have to wait another however many weeks it will take for them to get it and ship another one.


CONCLUSION: It's GREAT. I recommend 100%. Just make sure you get a good price and check all the pieces for defects or breakages before assembling it. I would give the item 5 stars if I had received it ON TIME and NOT BROKEN.

I was very disappointed with this item. It is poorly constructed and the finish is worse. there were repairs to the finish at the factory that were essentially wood filler thrown on the repair site without sanding before repainting/refinishing. Two pieces had been broken and repaired at the factory but split at the same repair when I put it together. It is rickety and unstable. I took it apart and put it back together with wood glue to stablize it. One of the holes for the slack's holder was to shallow and had to be drilled out to hold the bar. It is top heavy and tips over easily. I believe it would be appropriate if priced closer to $50 than the current selling prices.
