About the Author

David J. Moran was born in South Africa, in 1940, his birth caused his father to delay reporting to England as he was needed for war work, and then the family sailed from South Africa in the “Empress of India” to register the birth in Leeds Yorkshire. He travelled throughout England with his father and mother (from such areas as Leeds, Woolage, and London) as the war grew more intense and bombings more frequent. His parents as many thousands of others, finally decided to stay in Perth, Scotland, for the child's own safety, until the later part of the war, while his father worked on such projects as the Mulberry harbour. Schooling was normally secondary modern, until 15 when he joined the Army Apprentice School. At 17 years of age he head to leave due to illness, so started trading in the retail side of shops, and progressed to Supermarkets, only to change direction once more and enter the Prison Service. Thirty years later, he was forced to retire at the rank of Principal Officer, due to an industrial injury, gained in the aftermath of a riot. At this time his younger son, David, took his own life, while waiting for exam results to go to college, which arrived the day he died, inviting him to join Kings College Oxford. The marriage of some 25 years collapsed, leaving the family of one remaining son and two daughters devastated, until all that remained was a divorce. He was fortunate in his choice of a second wife Christine, as she helped and supported him when his eldest son Simon, died of an incurable disease (Muscular Dystrophy-Dui Canne) and was able to come to terms with such a loss. Due to all the help and support, he received not only his wife, but also from his daughter Amanda, his wife's daughter of a previous marriage. Louise, and new family friends, who without thought about themselves, rallied to help with arrangements. THE TRIDENT TALE is his first novel that he has been able to complete, although he has had two short stories published in magazines, he is already on completion of a another horror story. The term the Trident Tales, is my hope that there is better things in life than the seven deadly sins, although in truth I have broken several, I am sure, in my life time, so I am not the one to judge. Hobbies include computers, DIY, gardening, caravanning, sailing, and all the grandchildren from the two marriages.
