Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Necro's new album, Death Rap, is poised to reinvent hip-hop and aggressive metal music as we know it. Not many other artists have managed to strike a balance between the two styles of music without watering down one or the other. Death Rap pushes both genres to their extremes, far surpassing anything Necro or anyone else has done in the past While Necro is an underground hip-hop legend, his first musical project was playing guitar in a death metal band. However, his love of rap music soon set him on the path of writing, recording, and releasing albums on his own label Psycho+Logical-Records. Necro created a cult following, based on word of mouth and clever street promotion. His first two albums: I Need Drugs and Gory Days each sold over 30,000 copies and are highly regarded in the underground hip-hop community. Necro started to show his metal roots with 2004's Pre-fix for Death, an album that featured collaborations with members of Hatebreed, Slipknot, Obituary, S.O.D. and was even more successful than anything he had done before. His past successes have enabled Necro to build up a strong online following with over 135,000 friends on Myspace and a massive Youtube presence. Now in 2007, Necro is concentrating on his career, rigorously touring the world for the first time and releasing his most ambitious album to date. Death Rap features more of what fans love about Necro: raw lyrical skill, dirty hip-hop beats and an array of guest stars of the current and classic metal scene. Guest appearances include Mark Morton of Lamb of God, Brian Fair of Shadows Fall, Scott Ian of Anthrax, Steve DiGiorgio of Death, Dave Ellefson formerly of Megadeth, and Adam Jackson from Twelve Tribes. Death Rap is truly going to be a genre defining record for hip-hop and metal fans everywhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still the sickest, December 7, 2007
If you don't normally listen to Necro - try one of his earlier CDs first to see what he's all about and than give this one a shot and you'll see how Necro's music has evolved and emerged.

There is some killer (pun intended) tracks, my favorite is #1 Creepy Crawlers, complete with Charles Manson interview snippets exemplifying how disturbing he is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Death Rap, December 5, 2007
By bp2626 (Vancouver, BC) - See all my reviews
Death Rap is Necro's 5th LP, and he's only getting better. The beats on this album are sharp and to the point and his lyric quality / flow is at it's best. A lot of people like to complain about the rap/metal fusion on some of Necro's stuff (some tracks on this album, and the pre-fix) but this is the smoothest combination of the two I've seen thus far. There is a good balance of pure hip-hop and metal fusion tracks on this album. The only complaint I have is the same as everyone else, the album is much too short. The "filler" (skits, intros, outros) of previous albums are missing, but on the other hand I can listen to this album on repeat over and over and it just doesn't seem to get old.

4.5/5

Buy it and we can get it percolating like the church of Satan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Necro tones it down a bit, September 11, 2007
By T. Audibert (Louisiana USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Necro is an underground hip-hop legend, a hard working MC who blends his love of heavy metal, horror movies and hip-hop in a unique way and has been doing so for years. "Death Rap" is Necro's fifth full length album and his first to be distributed by Koch Records. Overall, this album is violent as expected, but not quite as lyrically shocking as his previous albums. The beats are great with a little more substance than before. Live drums, bass and guitar give the album almost a bit of a band sound at times. The lyrics are well written and Necro's vocals are at their best. The only reason this album gets 4 stars is because of the length. 37 minutes is just way too short, most songs are 2-3 minutes long and end too early. Anyway, if you like Necro get this disc.
