Editorial Reviews

Product Description
TICKLAH VS. AXELROD is a reggae dub assault from Ticklah a.k.a. Victor Axelrod. You might know him from co-producing Dub Side of the Moon. Or as the keyboardist for Antibalas. Or from session work with Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, DJ Spinna and Robbie Williams. Or as a founding member of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. Even if you know him, you've never heard a record like this before. It features vocal contributions from Mikey General, Tamar-kali (Easy Star All-Stars), Mayra Vega, Vinia Mojica (best known for her work with De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest) and Rob Symeonn. Billboard called it "Reggae magic." World Music Central referred to its "Mind shattering dub excellence." And MP3.com called it "A potent combo of Jamaican and Latin rhythms." However you slice it, it is bound to become the soundtrack to your next party, chill out or love making session.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dub, roots & salsa, September 30, 2007
A brandnew releae from Easy Star records on october 15 2007: Ticklah vs. Axelrod. Even if you haven't heard his name, you've probably heard Axelrod's contributions to dozens of familiar projects. He was co-producer and keyboardist on Dub Side of the Moon. Is a key member of the Afrobeat collective Antibalas, and as an original memeber of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Axelrod is known for nailing grooves. His session work with Mark Robinson has put him on tracks by Lily Allen, Robbie Williams and Amy Whinehouse.

You might call this album a dub album, but it's more than just dub. You'll also find some real roots songs (with the vocals of Rob Symeonn and Mikey General) and salsa combined with reggae and dub with the vocals of Mayra Vega. Vinia Mojica also features on some tracks. She is known for her work with De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest.

My favorite songs are Porkeater and Rescue Me - true roots reggae!

5.0 out of 5 stars Laid back and sultry, February 21, 2008
I've been a fan of Antibalas' hard hitting political sound for years. This is as laid back as Antibalas is agressive. Excellent, well rounded sound will not disappoint!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ticklah Tropixxx, October 30, 2007
By Goldxilla (Xilla City) - See all my reviews
This music is as smooth as a Stockton-Malone pick and roll. Nasty like Stockton & strong like Malone. Warm sonics, sultry grooves & creativity from a master mind.
There's deep dub & sexy latin sounds. Mesmerizing vocals. And even a song featuring animal sounds for nature lovers like me.
Get this.. you won't regret this.
