5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Headshots. . ., April 1, 2008
By IKeneally (California) - See all my reviews
I dont know what is wrong with the guy who gave it 2 stars. . . His computer must be broken. This mouse has decent drivers and can be ultra sensitive. The on-the-fly adjustment is awesome. I was playi8ng Fuel of War and I had a really long Headshot to make, all i did was take the sesitivity down to one ( super UN sensitive) And. . . BOOM! Headshot. The guy called me a hacker the rest of the game cause i made that shot. lol. it was all the mouse!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gaming Mouse = Good Mouse No Matter How You Slice It, July 12, 2008
By Ted Ayers "THE Ted" (Tulsa, Oklahoma) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After only a number of hours I can't imagine using any other normal mouse. While shopping for a 'gaming mouse' I was disheartened by the extremely overt negative reviews for every gaming mouse I could consider that was under $50.

Like most things involving those who are young and with little else to live for, these types of devices seem to install 'loyalty issues' between one brand or another. All of the negative things listed about this mouse I find to be wonderful features.

The material of the mouse is a wonderful soft rubber. The scroll wheel is large and has very pleasing control.

As to the side buttons which everyone seems to hate. They are designed so that the thumb can press either of them easily at will without actually moving positions. To press one you use the joint part of your thumb, and the other you use the flat part. The buttons on the other side, where you of course don't have a thumb, are exactly the same way. Because this is an ambi-dexterous mouse, if you are left handed you still get the wonderfully designed thumb button. As far as being able to easily press the two buttons on the side of the mouse where you don't have a thumb, this unreasonable, but extremely understandable. They are still easy to find because they have tiny plastic bubbles to identify them, but when using your pinky and ring finger you may have to take a split second to identify them from each other. You're only going to need two extra buttons for extreme combat 'oh my god' reaction situations, so the two buttons on the non-thumb side can be for other things which require less instant action, or simply not used at all.

The sensitivity changer-upper is controlled with one of the extra side buttons (you get to pick which one in the options, and that button can still have another function in addition to triggering the scroll wheel sensitivity change) + the scroll wheel. Whether you prefer this or a physical button on the mouse itself is simply personal preference. I love it being the scroll wheel, its simply easier for me to think about in my brain than having to find even MORE buttons on the mouse. Also the on-screen visualization is excellent, its visible but non-intrusive, and has shown up on top of every game I've tried it on.

The main two buttons are very long, which again I have grown to like and not despise. I can have my fingers arched up and pressing directly down or I can relax them flat, either way is comfortable and I like the option. My hand goes to its normal combat position in games but when I'm simply reading long bits of internet my hand can simply rest comfortably.

The software is excellent and there's no reason you wouldn't use it, but the mouse still 'works' when you first plug it in to Windows XP, so you don't have to worry about not having a functioning mouse if you need to reformat or some such.

I couldn't recommend this mouse more. I paid less for it than it costs here on Amazon, but now that I've tried it, if a meteor smashed my room (and Diamondback) to bits I'd pay even more than $40 for a replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ahhhhhhhhhhh..., January 23, 2008
By Jessica Zellat (Albuquerque, NM) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I got this mouse as a Christmas present from my fiance. I was building a system, and he thought I should have a nice mouse. He has one like it, but I didn't like the setting he had his at, but I love that you can really get this one right where you want it. It moves really well and I only have had one issue with it. When I first started gaming with it, the on the fly sensitivity reset itself when I really didn't want it to. I just went into the menu and turned that option off.

The other nifty thing I discovered is that if you have a Mac with a mighty mouse, the Razer Diamondback will work with it as well, even though it doesn't actually have mac support. My mighty mouse had gotten mighty slow, and this mouse blew my mind when I plugged it in. You can still set the sensitivity and the tracking and the click speed however you can't adjust the buttons like on a PC. I just got excited that the Diamondback worked at all on the Mac, so I wasn't that concerned with the buttons that I didn't use anyway not working. I would recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a new high performance mouse.
