Product Description

In November 2004, 260 computer geeks set sail on a cruise ship bound for the Caribbean. This was no ordinary cruise: this was a Geek Cruise.

Geeks On Board is a light-hearted exploration of an unlikely group of people in an unlikely setting. The film chronicles a week-long theme vacation, interspersing geek life aboard the cruise liner with excursions to exotic locales in the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, and St. Maarten. Of equal interest to geeks and non-geeks, the film explores such subjects as the identity of a geek, the bond between computer geeks and their machines, as well as breaking down the common perception of a computer geek as an antisocial outcast. The colorful presence of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, widely considered the inventor of the personal computer, is a prime focus for the geek cruisers and for the film as well.

In addition to Wozniak, the Macintosh obsessed computer geeks on the cruise include Neil, the optimistic laid back founder of Geek Cruises; Neil's right-hand man Randal, a karaoke enthusiast and cybercrime felon; Kess, a fiery redheaded female gamer and geek; Bill, a kilt-wearing "Wizard of Technology"; and four young men from a software database company with a knack for having fun.

Come aboard a Geek Cruise and experience a unique journey, where you will meet many characters who are proud to call themselves Geeks On Board.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm On Board, February 25, 2009
By J. Mayflyer (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews
Finally a movie about geek culture that celebrates its diversity rather than simply making fun of geek tendencies. As a big fan of Steve Wozniak, it's nice to see what a legend of the industry is like in real life. A perfect companion piece to his book, iWoz

2.0 out of 5 stars I was there, April 25, 2009
I bought this video because I was on the cruise. Loved the cruise, the video was disappointing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kinda boring, November 7, 2007

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
I was really looking forward to this DVD. I wanted to see what it's really like to take a geek cruise. Instead, it plays more like a video by a passenger, his vacation video being sold on DVD. As a hard-core Mac guy, I really should have loved this, but I didn't. There was no real interviews, no depth, no reason to watch it really.
