Dead End Drive-In
The near future, nuclear accidents, economic collapse and global riots have put the entire world in a state of chaos. Looting is widespread. Cities are wastelands. Violent thugs control the streets. But when working-class guy Jimmy Crabs (Ned Manning) and his voluptuous girlfriend (Carmen Nicholson) are accidentally trapped in a drive-in theater being used as a maximum-security youth prison, they discover a whole new society filled with brutality, racism and corruption. Now Jimmy has one desperate shot at escape, a last- chance high-speed plan that will blast him from one hell into another that lies beyond the walls of DEAD END DRIVE-IN.
Director Brian Trenchard-Smith (ESCAPE 2000, THE MAN FROM HONG KONG) and co-writer Peter Carey (the awardwinning novelist whose works include OSCAR AND LUCINDA and BLISS) pack this 80s Australian thriller with a potent mix of social metaphor, explosive action and gratuitous nudity for one of the most intriguing Down Under cult hits of the decade.
Cut and Run
An ambitious television reporter (Lisa Blount of AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN) and her cameraman investigate a series of grisly murders as well as the disappearance of their boss son (Willie Aames of EIGHT IS ENOUGH). But when they trace both stories to the Amazon, they discover he is the prisoner of a drug cartel led by a renegade Colonel (Richard Lynch) and his army of sadistic natives. Now their big story has become a nightmare of sudden violence where the ultimate assignment is survival ...and the most brutal animal in the jungle is man. Karen Black, Michael Berryman (THE HILLS HAVE EYES) and Eriq LaSalle (ER) co-star in this infamous shocker directed by Ruggero Deodato (CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST), originally released in America in a butchered soft version.
