With the release of Flash CS3 Adobe has upgraded to ActionScript 3.0 providing significant enhancements and adjustments to the coding language. In this unique training approach designed specifically for ActionScript programmers, author Bill Dallas Lewis provides an introduction to ActionScript 3 as well as highlights many of its most significant changes. Bill starts the training with a look at ActionScript 3.0 as compared to ActionScript 2.0 and explains many of the primary changes. Bill then dives into the bulk of the ActionScript 3 language with an extensive look at Objects, including predefined objects, methods and properties as well as working with movie clips. Variables are covered next discussing data types, variable syntax as well as demonstrating a few sample equations. Functions are then covered discussing the interaction with a function including calling and passing variables. Bill then concludes the training with a discussion on adding interactivity within your Flash productions through the use of event listeners. This presentation is roughly 45 minutes long and is presented as a standard DVD Video disc which is compatible with standalone DVD players as well as computer (Macintosh and Windows) based DVD players.

This is probably a great DVD for a beginner. I was disappointed. A difficultly rating could help.

Adobe Flash CS3 - ActionScript 3

This DVD was a combination of a little explanation of ActionScript 3 and some from Photo Shop. The teacher explains that I went through a named session, but it was not true and that passage was not on DVD.

I do not know why it was showing parts of Photo Shop.

I'm teaching myself ActionScripting, and this is EXACTLY what I needed to hammer down the basics. I'm quite certain that in a week, I will sneer at the elementary building blocks presented, but right now this DVD will give me a solid foundation to build upon later.
