From the ashes of Silkworm, December 3, 2007
This band is led by Andy and Tim from Silkworm, and the good news is that they're soldiering on after the death of Michael Dahlquist. A few of these tracks rank with the best material of their 15+ years making music. "The Cardinal Movements", "Reposession", "Dead Man's Blues" and "Human Out of Me" particularly stand out. The downside is that there are only 8 cuts, and the last two songs aren't quite up to par musically; hence 4 stars instead of 5. Still I'd recommend this to any fan of Silkworm (or indie rock in general), and here's hoping the next record is a bit longer.

The Prettiest Silkworm album yet., November 11, 2008
It's unfortunate that after we suffer a great loss we are inspired, and often produce some of the finest work we've ever created. Why can't we be this inspired on an average Tuesday in October when nothing at all happens? Perhaps we are sometimes. After Andrew Wood died the surviving members of Mother Love Bone along with Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder put out a tribute album called Temple of the Dog. The passion of that album was undeniable, the lyrics heart felt, and still today I think it's some of the best music those guys have ever created. Here, the surviving members of Silkworm have decided to press on without their beloved Michael Dahlquist. They now call themselves Bottomless Pit. They still sound a bit like Silkworm, yet this time they offer up a bit of tenderness, beauty and restraint which works incredibly well with their sound. Tim and Andy have produced one of the finest collection of songs I have heard from them in quite awhile, and it makes my ears happy that they didn't decide to throw in the towel after Michael died. It's hard to resist the temptation of assuming they named there band after the deep depression they presumably suffered after their loss, and it's hard to resist the temptation of assuming that many of these songs where written for, or in some sort of tribute to there good friend and former bandmate. Either way, if you were a fan of Silkworm you will surely not be disappointed by this effort!
Side Note - I saw Silkworm years ago at Portland Oregon's legendary Satyricon bar, and their show happened to fall on Michaels Birthday. Somewhere in the middle of their set Michael's parents came out of the back with a giant birthday cake full of candles. It was a touching moment.... and everyone there could see how much he was loved by his parents and his friends alike. It was one of those moments I will not soon forget. R.I.P Michael, we all miss you and your amazing talent.

Great album, a new future for fans of Silkworm, March 19, 2009
With the loss of Michael, Andy and Tim from Silkworm have formed this band Bottomless Pit. I have followed these guys since 1995, and I believe this is some of their best work in years, and it comes through nicely on tracks like Leave The Light On, Greenery and Dead Man's Blues. With the thick lyrics and melodies that we have come to know from the Silkworm days, this album is a must to purchase for any Silkworm Fan. I just wish this was more than 8 tracks. I look forward to future work from this group.
