5.0 out of 5 stars the best of a well over looked band, May 26, 2008
This disc contains some of the best tracks that UFO produced during what many rate as the bands high water mark. The compilation covers the years that Michael Schenker (brother of Rudolf Schenker of Scorpions fame) played with UFO as their lead guitarist. While Schenker's guitar is quite excellent, it should be noted that UFO's sound is not isolated to just his playing, but that the band had an extremely tight sound as a unit with an awesome rhythm section, and possibly one of the best hard rock vocalist's in Phil Mogg.
Nineteen great tracks including "When It's Time To Rock" from 1983, which still enjoys air time on many rock/metal radio stations today. Other songs like "Two Hot To Handle", "Lettin' Go", and "Shoot Shoot" depict the way hard rock was laid down in the 1970's. While, like any super group, 1977's "Love to Love" was the band's power ballad and clearly shows the diversity in song writing/execution that this group possessed.
If you're looking for a great disc to pick up and introduce yourself to one of England's greatest hard rock bands, you won't go wrong with this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars couldn't get it right, May 5, 2008
By monday night by satellite (Los Angeles, CA. United States) - See all my reviews
Great, another mediocre UFO compilation but the best sounding.
However THIS kid's decided to purchase in order to finally own We Belong To The Night on disc.
So as it turns out Michael isn't the only crazy one.

My guess is some idiot from Classic Rock mag read through every track list from all 50,000 UFO compilations and whichever titles would reappear, those are the best! The set kicks off with 6 + minute Rock Bottom (shouldn't every best-of begin with the second longest number?) and into Oh My which is hardly the best of anything.
Only two from "Force It" but three "No Heavy Petting" tracks!?! Adding insult to injury (and that poor monkey) the inclusion of, of all things Can You Roll Her.

Note to rockin' record label guys: Putting Too Hot To Handle next to Only You Can Rock Me does nothing but reveal their similarities.
You're fired.

After the Michael Schenker era tracks have dried up we come to "No Place To Run" (the "uh-oh they're starting to suck" album).
Most fans mention Mystery Train and Money Money as standouts while again, two lesser songs are offered.
And i can't even remember how Young Blood goes.

C'mon kids how many official "best of UFO" packages have we seen?
For the uninitiated yeah BUY THIS COMP because you really cannot go wrong with these remastered classics. As much as i love Thin Lizzy and hate Motorhead, UFO are vastly more unique than those of the same genre.

BTW if you can get your paws on "The Wild, The Willing And The Innocent" or at least have a chance to revisit it please do so. Despite the hilarity of bad 80's artwork i think it ranks as best post-Schenker...
and i'm talking to YOU, Classic Rock.
