5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing- if you know what they are trying to do., February 23, 2008
A Kid's Review
The Bedlam in Goliath is an absolute perfect addition to the Mars Volta's collection of amazing works. Daunting, and tantalizing, this album effectivly gets into the bloodstream and has you wanting more. Deloused, with the quieter feel to it (although at parts has the ability to make you jump up and start dancing) is considered to many, including myself, to be just about the best album created by man...

But The Bedlam in Goliath doesnt let up from start to finish, and i have to say, after i was done listening i couldnt help but drop my jaw to the floor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Intro to The Mars Volta!, August 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Mars Volta is one of the most unique bands out today. "The Bedlam and Goliath," is one of their better albums in my opinion and is a good introduction to the group. The only downfall to me is the disappointment I felt when I realized this band is better experienced live. Their songs are usually long and sometimes too long, hence the necessity to see them live. However, each song is loaded with pure talent and worth the listen to any true music lover. I recommend purchasing this album at least for the artistic experience.

P.S.
The backstory to the album needs to be read first before listening to the songs. Creepy!

4.0 out of 5 stars New Music with the Same Sound, March 29, 2008
By Danielle Lane (Horseshoe, North Carolina) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This is the bands' fourth release and it is everything you'd expect from Mars Volta. Just like each prior album, every one tells a different story. You can read the whole story that this album is about on their website. This album has the more progressive, punky and heavier parts of previous albums. It's come along from their work with "At The Drive-In" in a more clean-polished yet experimental form.

Cedric is more particular when he does his bursts of screaming vocals unlike on prior albums. All the tracks are very similar, none bad yet none great. It is their most accessible album to date, yet still has the Mars Volta sound that fans have grown to love. The best track on the album is "Goliath" (due to Omar's solos on the track). The album overall is a great Mars Volta album. The band has been able to create new music with the same sound. yet with not using the same three chords making it still fresh.
