About the Director
Filmmaker Ken Carpenter is an award-winning producer/director with numerous faith-based projects to his credit. He founded Franklin Films in 1994, and his clients have included Max Lucado, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Casting Crowns, eHarmony, Big Idea Productions, and Compassion International, among many others. Recognizing a need for more family-edifying DVD selections for the home-centered marketplace, Carpenter recently founded Franklin Springs Family Media. Among the company s inaugural projects is Still Standing: The Stonewall Jackson Story, a 48-minute High Definition documentary produced and directed by Carpenter. Recounting the life and faith of Civil War general Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson, Still Standing traces from Jackson s orphaned childhood in what is now West Virginia; to the Sunday school class he taught for African Americans at his home church in Lexington, Virginia; to his military service as a renowned general in the Confederate Army; to his lasting legacy as a God-honoring man who sought the advancement of those under his influence. Carpenter recently completed production on John Tesh: Alive, a television special slated to air next year, and he is also producing and directing 13 episodes of a half-hour television program hosted by acclaimed author and speaker Joni Eareckson Tada. The High Definition show features families from around the country who have triumphed over extraordinary circumstances. Carpenter previously produced and directed programming for PAX-TV, as well as six episodes of Front Row Live for the Gospel Music Channel. In 2006, he directed a half-hour documentary that appears on the Facing the Giants DVD. A pioneer in the Christian music video industry, some of Carpenter s credits include the Billboard Music Video Award-winning clip "The Hard Way, by dcTalk; Michael W. Smith s Dove Award-nominated There She Stands music video; and the Newsboys "In the Belly of the Whale" video from "Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie. Carpenter received the 2007 Dove Award for Long Form Music Video of the Year for Time Again...Amy Grant Live, as well as the 2006 Dove Award for Long Form Music Video of the Year for Mark Schultz s A Night of Stories and Songs. Carpenter and his wife are the parents of eight children, whom they home-school. They have been featured on Newsweek.com and on ABC s Nightline, as part of coverage on large families.
