Editorial Reviews

Product Description
2008 live album from Kory Clarke and Warrior Soul. The album was recorded live in 2007 and represents a rebirth of the band. The album features many of the classic songs from the Last Decade Dead Century, Drugs, God And The New Republic, Salutations From The Ghetto Nation, Space Age Playboys and Chill Pill albums as well as a brand new song in "Bad News (Rock n' Roll Boyfriend)". Clarke and WS sound as vital as they did when the astonishing debut album was released in 1990. Live Wire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, October 20, 2008
By Steven Swan (Illinois) - See all my reviews
The band for this 2007 show set in London consists of Kory Clarke on vocals, Rille Lundell on Lead Gtr, John Hodgson on Rhythm Gtr, Mike McNamara on Bass, and Rob "Stevo" Stephenson on Drums.

Live recordings recorded mixed, and mastered by Sacha Hansler.

It starts out with "Intro/Interzone" from the Drugs, God, and the New Republic (opening 2 songs). Right away you can tell these are better sounding recordings than the bonus Live songs tacked on to the 2006 reissues. You can hear it pretty well, and it sounds pretty good, although there is a part at the beginning of "Shock 'Em Down" that sounds kinda light, like maybe one of the guitars isn't plugged in or something...but it's a Live recording, so that just kinda adds to the feel of it.

The highlights of the older songs portions of the set are "The Losers", "Love Destruction", and the longer also jam of "The Wasteland". "The Drug" could go on for a few more minutes also on a jam as far as I'm concerned. The new song sounds great Live also of course. "The Losers" is probably my fav right now, it sounds even heavier and hauntingly beautiful at the same time as the studio version I think, Kory does have a voice that seems worn at times but manages to present these songs in a very robust fashion, and the band sounds great all around. "Punk And Beligerant" perhaps is a testament to that, in that it sounds like Kory is just as (beligerant) as he used to be in the days of the original Warrior Soul. This feel along with hearing how good the new song sounds, really makes you think maybe this incarnation could be the rebirth of the classic Warrior Soul sound.
The new song on here is your basic Warrior Soul song to me, it leans more toward the Spaceage Playboys sound, but it is also reminiscent of The Republic sounds also, so that's a good sign.

Breakdown of songs from each CD goes
Last Decade 3 songs
The Republic 3 songs
Salutations 2 songs
Chill Pill 1 song (shock em down...good choice)
Playboys 3 songs

Overall a nice live CD that does seem to see the band on all cylinders more often than not.
The booklet has band photos/collages spread over 6 pages, not alot of info other than the players in the making of the sounds you hear.
Good to have them back, and hope to hear more and more new stuff in the new year also.
