Product Description

Product Description

NOTE: The DEVICE WILL NOT WORK WITH any ExpressCard using the PCI Express (PCIe) portion of the ExpressCard standard. This is the majority of ExpressCards that do any other than the devices discussed above. Any real host adapter for SATA, FireWire, Ethernet, USB 2.0, etc. WILL NOT WORK WITH the EXP-USB USB 2.0 to USB 2.0 Mode ExpressCard 34 / 54 Host Adapter. The EXP-USB USB 2.0 to USB 2.0 Mode ExpressCard Adapter allows use of USB based ExpressCards with USB 2.0 equipped computers. USB mode ExpressCards include: Novatel Wireless Merlin ExpressCards (XU870, EX720, V740), storage media ExpressCards The EXP-USB USB 2.0 to USB 2.0 Mode ExpressCard 34 | 54 Host Adapter provides 5V and should provide more than enough power to ExpressCards when plugged into a 500mA USB 2.0 port. Use with 300mA USB 2.0 ports is not recommended and may not provide sufficient current for certain ExpressCard applications. Using USB 2.0 technology, the device supports high speed applications including HSDPA and HSUPA ExpressCards. The EXP-USB USB 2.0 to USB 2.0 Mode ExpressCard Host Adapter is very small and lightweight, providing excellent portability.

2.0 out of 5 stars Failed after a week, June 27, 2008
I received the usb express card adapter to use with an Asus mini laptop I just bought. Initially it performed very well. The second time I plugged it into the usb port, it shut down the computer. Tried the third time while on the phone with Asus tech support and it worked again. Next time and ever since, it has not worked. Plugged just the adapter into another Dell Inspiron laptop and got the message that an over voltage drain was detected and the port would be shut down. My guess is a short in the short wire that connects the Express card slot to the usb connector. Don't have the original packaging, so I guess it's just trash. Ordered and am now using a SIIG unit that is larger and seems more robust and hopefully will continue working. I wouldn't recommend this product based on my experience, but I see others have had no problems and are very pleased. It is more compact and easier to carry with a laptop. So you decide, but just hang onto all the packaging and stuff for a few weeks and make sure it continues to work.

5.0 out of 5 stars works great with V640, November 25, 2007
Length:: 0:40 Mins

Quick positive review on the Digigear USB adapter for the ExpressCard34 EVDO cards. I used it on the V640 from Verizon and it worked!

2.0 out of 5 stars doesn't work with GT Option Ultra Express, June 25, 2009
Does not work with GT Option Ultra Express card with MacBook Pro and 3G ATT service.
Still can't really tell if the title/description was stating that it would work or not work with this card, but in any case, it does not. It was worth a try, as now the MacBook Pro 15" do not have the Express card slots.

Time to get a new 3G modem.
