Biography

Owl City is the electronic brainchild of Adam Young, who launched the project in 2007 while living at his parents' home in Owatonna, MN. Troubled by insomnia, Young began spending his evenings in the household basement, where a computer and several instruments provided a welcome diversion from his sleeping patterns. He eventually combined those diversions into a blend of electronica and emo-pop,… Read more in Amazon's Owl City Store

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh new sound that is captivating., August 28, 2008

To best describe the sound of Owl City, I think it's almost a mashup of The Postal Service & hellogoodbye musically, and the voice of Sufjan Stevens maybe?

No matter how you categorize it, the music is catchy, light, and will immediately make you want to tap your foot and sing along.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet - Hypnotic - Enjoyable, August 26, 2008
By The Rev (Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Maybe I'm Dreaming (MP3 Download)
I find it hard to describe this one man band. Kind of like a positive Postal Service sound. The mixing is flawless, the lyrics somehow soothe my mind and the music seems to touch my heart. I feel happy listening. All this from a guy from Owatonna, Minnesota!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Incredible, November 18, 2008
This review is from: Maybe I'm Dreaming (MP3 Download)
I decided to check out this album upon the recommendation of a friend a few months ago, and I don't think I have ever been more pleased with a recommendation before. This is my absolute favorite album in the new sub-genre I like to call Indietronica. It is a perfect blend of everything I love about the Indie and Electronic genres.

Upbeat and deeply melodic, this album has everything I desire in an album. I cannot praise it enough. You will just have to check it out yourself.

This is a great CD, but I was bummed that it went down three bucks the day after I ordered it. Adam Young is making some great creative songs. Keep it up!
