Editorial Reviews

Product Description

US version includes one exclusive bonus track, 'Dytopia' (Turkish Prison Remix). After building a strong reputation from live shows and their first self titled EP, this trio released the massive `Secrets Of The Universe' EP in June 2006 (SIB001 check your sales!), which gave us the Triple J smashes 45 & Rising and Shadows. Since then they have been touring the country and building a following that resulted in sold out shows almost everywhere they have played. And now, the long awaited debut album is upon us: `Dystopia'! Vincent, Andy & newest addition Dan (ex VALENT INOS ) have delivered beyond expectations. This album is the perfect meeting point of electro, indie & pop. This will go down as the album that crosses over electro to the masses while still keeping the underground happy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Futuristic, Retro Dance Rock, August 4, 2009
Midnight Juggernauts debut Dystopia is a futuristic-retro blend of psychedelic Pink Floyd, Bowie, and 80's New Wave. It is hard to tell if this was created now, or thirty years ago- which is a good thing. Great music is timeless. The entire album has been refined and filtered through glossy production that keeps everything sharp and dynamic. From the start of the album, it feels as if MJ have thrown everything that was cool and great about the past into a blender and pressed the dance button. Dystopia has an eerily, dark and understated quality to it, with enough rhythm to keep the dance floor moving. "Into The Galaxy" is like something straight out of Bowie himself. "Dystopia" feels like a midnight drug induced trip through the galaxy. "Road To Recovery" a slick dance track, melding a combination of vintage bowie, new wave synths, and disco beats. "Nine Lives" is buried in electronica, and pulses with retro energy. Much of the album has a dreamy, and hypnotic quality to it that reveals it's intricacy and subtlty slowly. Like all good music of substance, this album gets better and better with each listen as it reveals it's understated brilliance. Dripping with swirling synths and clouds of retro haze, Dystopia keeps one foot in the past while riding the glittery, dance beats of today. This is the kind of album that many bands aim to create but fall spectacularly short. They have managed to create an album that is compelling, hard to pinpoint, and truly genre redefining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, June 19, 2008
I have not heard such a deep and profound album like this in quite a long time. Shadows is simply amazing. It reminds me of the melancholy new wave of the 80's but then changes gears and gives you, your right, daft punk with a sprinkle of LCD Soundsystem. Must have album!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent blending of styles, resulting in a cool new sound, September 29, 2008
By M. H. Ginn "MarshallG" (Arlington, VA USA) - See all my reviews
I've really enjoyed the Juggernaut's album Dystopia. It's a real amalgam of 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond sounds. For example, one moment I'm hearing Dead or Alive; the next minute, I am hearing Pink Floyd. Pretty cool. My favorite track is still Road to Recovery, but I am finding a lot to like about the rest of their work, too. Fun stuff.
