The only case where the connection worked is when I connected it with an IDE hard drive on both Vista and XP. No other connection worked. I noticed a burning smell in the SATA power cord connection area immediately when I connected it with two SATA hard drives to recover files from, so I was out of luck. The BrilliantStore sent me a replacement free of charge, but the power supply adapter does not work. There is no light in the power supply when I connected it unlike the original one, which in turn burned the connection area in SATA hard drive. The power supply actually says "QC PASS", which is ridiculous because if it works, it should turn on the light on the adapter.

Luckily, I got what I urgently needed before the plastic finish on the SATA power side broke off, rendering the power strip useless because it will not stay attached the the HD. The plastic is ultra flimsy and snapped without much force.

However, I can't argue with the fact that it was a great product before it failed.

absolutely great product. this enables you to use internal cd and hdd drives as external ones. no need to buy expensive external drives if you have a few spare internals. whoever thought this up is a genius. a must for any IT people
