As the second season of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle gets under way, Sakura, Syaoran, Kurogane, Fay, and Mokona continue their travels through time and space in search of the Princess' magical feathers. They begin to recognize characters they met on other worlds in different guises: in the kingdom of Piffle, Syaoran and Ryuou reestablish their earlier friendship, as do Sakura and Tomoyo. Kurogane realizes this Tomoyo is the princess he served in his home dimension, and Syaoran recognizes his father in a precocious boy engineer. More ominously, the mysterious Fei Wang and his assistant Xing Huo send Dr. Kyle, the sorcerer the travelers outwitted in the Country of Jade, to challenge them again. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle retains its wistful charm, but the viewer gets little feeling of progress. Sakura regains individual memories from the feathers, but there's no sense that these memories are having a cumulative effect.(Rated TV PG, suitable for ages 10 and older: violence) --Charles Solomon

3.0 out of 5 stars Good series, but runs out of steam., March 22, 2009
Tsubasa started out very promising but unfortunately, by the beginning of season two, the story was already starting to crumble and collapse under the weight of its own dragging plot. The first season was interesting and progressed at a healthy pace, but that sense of urgency is simply lost by the beginning of the second season and by the end, you're just simply left scratching your head. The very few fights are decent but certainly nothing special. There are a few comedic moments, mostly between Kurogane the bitter ninja and Fai, the impish stoner wizard. At times, they're genuinely funny, but at some periods seem overly forced, especially in the English dub.
I'm not telling people to avoid this series by any means. My suggestion would be to read the manga, then watch the anime series. The manga is absolutely incredible. It's very well drawn and the plot itself is much more intense and dramatic. Also, as far as the anime goes, it appears they opted to completely omit the more adult-themed direction that the manga has since taken.

So, in short, read the manga and then watch the anime if you feel inclined to do so. The manga will fill in any annoying plot gaps and also leave you feeling much more satisfied whereas the anime just eventually falls flat.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT Series, April 18, 2009
This series cought me by suprise. You see I had some what enjoyed Card Captors. But not got to be a huge fan because it was of course directed at girls. But I heard good things about Tsubasa and that it had something for us guys too. So I gave it a chance and was tottally hooked.
Of course during the second season it does get a little weird. But still very good.

Volume 12 is perhaps some of the best of season two. My question is in the anime they act as if at the end of the last episode on the disk it's the end of the series. Is this true? Im very much wondering due to I cannot find any hint of another disk comming on amazon.

So anyways enjoy the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Okay But feels different
I loved the first season of Tsubasa but this season feels a little different. The animation seems a little different, simpler, and the episodes a little shorter. Read more
