This Roman statue of Myrons Discus Thrower is the centerpiece for a display about the importance of athletics to the ancient Romans. Myron, one of the most famous Greek sculptors of the 5th century B.C. lived in Athens. His original bronze work, Discobolus, was thought to represent the perfect athletic form. Besides being beautiful, this statue suggested a period of transition. The chest and the face are frontal and the legs are in profile. But movement is implied in the position and tension of the body. There are several copies of this Myrons statue, one can be seen at the Vatican. This Extremely Detailed and Well-Made statue measures 12 Inches Tall. Made with cold cast resin with marble finish, this piece loyally preserves the intricate details and the spirit of the original. The photo does not do it justice. It has a very nice, substantial feel to it and is heavy for its size. The bottom is furnished with felt for the protection of your furniture. Simply put, very much a Class Act Quality Product.
