This is a nicely detailed map of Eastern Kansas, 1872. This was an early map for settlers and speculators. Inset map shows in detail the area around Ft. Riley, The Geographical Centre of U.S. Possessions. The roads to California, Oregon, and Santa Fe are shown, with 13 Indian reservations taking up about a fifth of the area of the map. This is a very detailed map and very elegant. All the township and range lines completed to date are shown, making this a useful map for locating land claims.
