One of the most famous, accessible, and beloved pieces of seasonal classical music, Antonio Vivaldi's Baroque masterpiece 'The Four Seasons' is given a thoughtful performance here by David Juritz and the London Mozart Players. Also presented are Vivaldi's 'Concertos for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.' This recording of Vivaldi Four Seasons was made utilizing 24bit 96 kHz technology. The sound stage is spread over the front three channels, whilst the rear channels contain the natural ambience of the Church of St Silas the Martur, Chalk Farm, to give the listener a realistic representation of the acoustic in witch performance took place. Concertos for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary written for two independent orchestras, these were recorded with the soloist, David Juritz, standing in the middle of the two groups. This seemed an ideal opportunity to position the orchestras accordingly in surround sound, so for both concertos, orchestra one is positioned in the front channels and orchestra two in the rear. The London Mozart Players has teamed up with one of the concert world's most gifted solo violinists David Juritz to give us perhaps the finest recording of Vivaldi's 4 Seasons ever made. The phrasing of every stanza is exquisite from beginning to end, and the emotional interpretation rings through with crystal clarity of 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The players leave nothing on the table and one is left with the very clear sense that these artists have a passion for their music and leave nothing on the table. This particular performance of the 4 Seasons is a "must have" in any true audiofile's library.

Yes, there's no question that this is a fun--and exciting and entertaining--70-plus minutes with some of Vivaldi's most familiar and, in the case of the program's last two double concertos, newly recorded for surround sound reproduction. I'll even go so far as to say that this is the most impressive Four Seasons I've ever heard on a recording. Pick your spot--tune in wherever you like. Try the Summer concerto's "Presto": you've never heard its scurrying scales played with such dazzling fury. Or listen to Winter's opening Allegro: you'll get chills even if it's 90 degrees outside. The superior engineering on this Blu-ray disc allows us to hear the often-luxurious array of instrumental timbres with far greater clarity and sonic richness, In this case, the label has succeeded in every way, producing a DTS-HD version that boasts lustrous string sound, weighty but clear bass, and excellent performances of these violin concertos. The sound is warm, present, very well balanced, and happily not excessively biased toward the rear channels in 7.1. So if you're looking for a splendid new Vivaldi that offers superior artistic values and excellent lossless surround sonics, this is definitely the one to get.

Add me to the people raving about this new 7.1 music titles. I have been searching for quite some time to find music on Blu-ray and I finally found it. The quality of the recordings is very high, as one would expect with DTS-HD Master Audio. I would buy this disc set first, listen to it for about three months, and then and only then move on to the other stuff.
I must say that listening to this discs is a wonderful change to today's music.
