3LCD Technology — for Quality and Color That’s Beyond Amazing
3LCD technology delivers amazing color and detail. Whether it’s big-screen entertainment or a classroom demonstration, 3LCD technology takes video performance to the next level. Delivering legendary image quality, this innovative technology always ensures powerful visual presentations.

  • Color -- 3LCD technology goes far beyond ordinary color. “Clear”, “rich” and “vibrant” barely begin to describe the incredible depth and brilliance it delivers. The impact is stunning. It’s an astonishing level of realism you never thought possible.
  • Reliability -- 3LCD technology is durable and dependable. Road-tested by millions of projector users around the world, it has been used in more projection products than any other. Over 40 million chips used in projectors and RPTV products have been put to the test in classrooms, sales presentations and on stage.
  • Detail -- 3LCD technology offers extraordinary detail. And detail is what superior image quality is all about — from movies to your most important presentations. 3LCD light engines deliver incredible, jaw-dropping detail — the kind that puts you right in the middle of where the action is.

  • Color and White Light Output (Brightness)
With Epson projectors, your presentations are sure to shine bright. For the best quality image, both color and white light output should be equal. Lumens are a measure of light output. The Epson EX50 delivers equal color and white light output of 2200 lumens for rich, colorful images1. Whether you’re projecting images with deep, dark colors or a white screen with minimal text or graphics, you get consistent light output. And, with Epson, you can be confident you’re getting exactly what you need because Epson measures white light output according to the ISO 21118 standard.

    Ease of Use
Epson projectors are easy to use and offer versatility to your presentations. Convenient short-cut features, such as Instant Off®/On, Direct Power Off/On, and Sleep Mode (AV Mute), allow for quick set up, shut down, and pauses in your presentations. Furthermore, automatic image alignment and flexible zoom features allow for quick, high quality images at all times.

    Energy-Efficient E-TORL Lamp
The innovative E-TORL lamp, exclusively from Epson, is a reliable performer that delivers more lumens per watt and lasts up to 4000 hours2. Switch the projector to High Mode and the E-TORL lamp still produces up to 3000 hours of light performance. The special E-TORL design minimizes light leakage, providing you the ultimate in lamp longevity — up to 50 percent more lamp life than competitive products. And, E-TORL replacement lamps cost up to $150 less than competing replacement lamps. So, while the E-TORL lamp maximizes your presentation time, it also minimizes your costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works very Well ... Comes with Cords ..., November 7, 2008
    Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a neophyte when it comes to using overhead projectors, but took a chance on this one. I was able to use the USB cord (included) to do a power presentation for a meeting, only 24 hours after the projector arrived. It was truly "plug & play."

A few days later, I needed to present a video clip to an audience. When I checked it out, I discovered that in videos, the USB cord was inadequate. So, I tried the "external monitor" cord (also included) and the situation was quickly resolved!

There were no worries about buying the right cords to connect anything, and there was no problem in getting it set up. It works well in a "dimly lit room." It has a nice feature that turns off the light (but not the projector) when the front cover is closed, and it is "instantly cool" after turned off. Besides the cords, it comes with its own carrying case and a cd with a manual to install on your computer.

I haven't yet run sound through the projector, since I have stereo speakers I use for that purpose.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely! Would I tell friends about it? Without hesitation.

*** Later note - I have since run sound through the projector. It is not as loud as using my stereo speakers, but it is OK in a smaller room.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value projector, January 31, 2009
By Moon (Oberlin, OH United States) - See all my reviews
    Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the first projector I have owned, but not the first one I've used (I work with them).

For the price, I think this is an excellent deal. For ~$530 (projector) and ~$100 (screen), or do what I did - make your own, you can create your own home theater and watch tv/movies LARGE.

When you compare that to the $800 42" LCD/Plasma, or the $1000 to $1500 50"... My screen is 100" diagonal.

I also really like the features and user interface that Epson models use. Pretty easy to use and learn right out of the box, I didn't even look at the manual.

This unit does have a USB connection for your computer, but I used the vga cable that came with the unit, and s-video for playing games/dvd's etc.

Nice, bright picture, good contrast. Fairly quiet as projectors go. Warms up fast and instant power down. Comes with a remote and various cables (usb, vga, vga to component adaptor).

In my opinion, this is the best VALUE XGA projector for the price. Sure you can find some entry level projectors in the $400 range, but they are native SVGA, not XGA. That makes a big difference when hooking up your computer or video games.

    5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, January 15, 2009
By TB (MA, USA) - See all my reviews
Oh my God am I happy I bought this projector! Let's just start by saying that I've always wanted to replace the crummy TV with a nice mammoth projector screen, 'size does matter'!

So anyway, I bought this, I think there was only one review when I did, and so felt like I was taking a risk with $600, but when it arrived, WOW!

It was up and running in 5 minutes (not counting the entire day it took me to reshuffle all the furniture in my living room to get the biggest screen I could). Plugged it into my cable box, and my laptop, and it picked them up instantly!

The next day I went and got myself an HD converter for my cable and plugged that in, and what a beautiful picture! What I would point out here though is that it does not have an HDMI slot (I believe the older model does), so they've sent a VGA component converter that works really really well, it just means that I can't hook up both my laptop and the cable at the same time, I have to manually switch cords, I'm thinking about buying a VGA splitter or something to do that for me soon.

It works fine with one or even two lights on (just a little dark), in the day we open the curtains all the way and the picture is still very visible, even though I run it mostly on the 'low' brightness setting.

Watching movies on this beauty are unbelievable! crisp, clear projection, here though I would recommend shutting the lights or whatever to get that theater experience!

Another investment that I'm probably going to make is to get a good screen for the wall, although right now I'm projecting to a light brown wall and the picture is way better than I would have thought!

It also has a USB function, where you can just plug the USB into the laptop and wala! you have output! this would work fine for presentations I guess (doesnt do that well with movies etc.) because the refresh rate is slower than the VGA input, but its a cool feature.

Overall I've had it for almost 3 weeks and and not regretting it one bit! It is well worth the price and if you do buy it and use it as a home theatre, it's going to make you fall in love with TV all over again! Seriously, I used to watch TV once a week (sometimes even less), and now I'm a bonafide couch potato!
