2.0 out of 5 stars A Full Inch too Tall, February 11, 2009
By Charlotte Ann Hu (Arizona, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This bulb is 7" tall from top to bottom -- nearly a full inch too tall to fit under the brace for the lamp shade of the lamp I had intended to use it for. Nice idea, but still needs a more research to bring it down closer to the normal physical dimensions of a traditional bulb. The incandescent bulb that is in the lamp now is 5 inches tall. The lamp shade brace crosses the top at 6 inches above the bottom of bulb's base receptacle. Even if a bulb were 6 inches tall, it would be impossible to install it.

Size seems to be a common problem with many of the new LED and CFL bulbs. While they have some great new technologies, the companies still aren't capable of putting it all in a package sufficiently small for many of the common lamps that were built with the classic incandescent bulb sizes in mind.

Hopefully, the company will continue to develop this idea into a size more suitable for our lives.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what you get!, February 24, 2009
No way you get 200 watts output from this. Not even equal to the 150 watts I was going to replace. I sent it back.

Do not buy IMO.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't do it. it's a toxic fad!, May 18, 2009
This bulb is made with more PLASTICS than a regular bulb. Manufacturing these plastics produces DIOXINS that float up into the atmosphere and, through wind currents, land at the polar regions of the earth, dumping toxins on the lands and life there. This bulb is made of MERCURY which cannot be disposed of in the regular trash. It must be taken to a company that specifically handles the TOXIC materials. Instead of people disposing of these properly, the toxic bulbs end up in landfills, adding to the mercury toxicity of landfills and exposure of sanitation workers who don't deserve to be exposed. According to energy star, it is said that this product reduces carbon emissions but, the energy source used in the energy star reports is electricity from COAL PLANTS; nearly the most toxic energy source available. COAL PLANTS release HUGE amounts of carbon and MERCURY into the atmosphere! Buy a regular light bulb. Purchase your power from solar and wind. Think holistically. Would you want to live with this light bulb in your back yard for the next 200-1000 years while it attempts to biodegrade? Protect your home and your temple; this earth and your body. Live clean brothers and sisters! Make conscious, holistic consumer choices. Don't let poorly thought out FADS guider your consumer choices! It's time for American consumers to realize the impact of where they lay down the buck! Live long and prosper!! :)
