Borrowing their band name from a traditional American folk song that comes out of Western North Carolina, O'Death draws on traditional folk, bluegrass, punk, gypsy music, metal, swing and jazz stylings. Originally formed in 2003 while the members attended SUNY Purchase, the band with Jamie on guitar and vocals, Gabe Darling on banjo, David Rogers-Berry on drums, Jesse Newman on bass, and Bob Pycior on fiddle played a series of shows at the now defunct Apocalypse Lounge in NYC, and quickly began building a fanbase with their reverently twisted take on Americana filtered through a wealth of musical influences as divergent as Bill Monroe, Prince, Neil Young, The Microphones, and The Misfits.

Remember the band of demons from "Devil Went Down To Georgia"? Well they came out with an album, it's called "Broken Hymns, Limbs and Skin". This whole album is one drunken trip through American Gothic; at times grotesque, at times bizarre, at times breath taking. From the break-neck opener "Lowtide" to the epic refrain of closer "Lean-To", this album is a horribly enjoyable listen. More Doc Holiday than Doc Watson, but still very true to their roots. Praise God, for the bluegrass revival is upon us.

Just saw the band live and they were incredible! They took my mind to a strange dark night in 1850's America and I was sad to leave. Indescribable in many ways. Not a perfect album but some fun tracks and a weird ride. Looking for a strange trip, you just found it.

side note: told the band I was copying my cd and giving it to friends and they encouraged it! good guys!
