i bought this to put up near the television so we could see the time easily. we don't keep our family room well lit because we generally watch television in the family room. this clock is very difficult to read in low to medium lit rooms. i taped a white piece of paper behind the digits, but that still doesn't help much as the text is not bright at all even though the picture of it here on Amazon.com looks bright. ah well.
