The PI Stick cam that I purchased was the first generation model. Although there have been several leaps and bounds in video quality and recording time (seen in recent models), I can say that it is still an okay micro DVR for the selling price (I purchased mine for under $50 without the flash memory card- you can purchase them here on Amazon for $1). It's simplicity and size make it a good travel companion.

-Out of the box- The step by step intructions, although written in poor english, are easy and no-nonsense. The device itself is simple in design with single button operation. The unit is partially charged, ready for initial power up and familiarization.

-Video Quality- My PI stick is first generation. It records small framed videos, perfect for review on cell phones. On the PC, it comes out pixilated, but alright.

-Record Time- Sure, if you increase the flash memory size, you have the potential to record longer BUT, you are limited to the battery charge. It has a two hour specification but I squeezed 2 1/2 out of it from a fully charged battery.

-Problems-The PI Stick Cam was designed and advertised to be covert. Here's the problem. The LED indicators are BRIGHT and when recording, the yellow light flashes, adding to the colorful lightshow. Moreover, the flashing yellow light is picked up internally by the camera when you record in dim lighting. The output video rythmically toggles between light and dark. It isn't too painful, but it can be distracting.

Overall... it's alright. I suggest getting the newer generation models or the micro DVR cam manufactured by AEE.

I bought one of these but it didn't work properly. The instructions are really hard to understand, they are in a very badly translated English. I tried recording some videos and taking pictures, but it's hard to know what the camera is saying with those lights, and when I hook it to the computer, my Avast alerts for a virus in the files in the camera. I had to turn off the Resident Protection to be able to open the folders and see the files. The pictures were distorted and the sound was low quality, with the volume increasing and decreasing.
Maybe I was unlucky, but it didn't work for me at all and I sent it back to the seller.

Even with the negative reviews I decided to take a chance and buy it, with the price I figured it may be a piece of junk, but it isn't. It actually works really well. No, you aren't going to make documentaries with it, yes the instructions are written by someone whose first language isn't English, but you can certainly understand them. It's small. That's the main thing about it. It worked well for me, and I'm pleased.
