I've tried several watering systems for my cats but this is the first one that my "fraidy cat", Karli took to almost immediately. She's wary of anything new, but this worked out great. I soak the filter in a bowl for about an hour to remove the loose charcoal instead of just rinsing it. That extra step has made a huge difference. I also add filtered water when the level drops so I've been able to get three weeks use out of a filter. I've never had a problem with clogging at all. Each cat uses it differently. My male cat, Theadore drinks out of the bowl and Karli drinks from the top where the water comes out - very cute to watch.

These filters, for some reason, are not as good as the original that came with my Drinkwell. That one worked perfectly.. these replacements, for some odd reason, leave charcoal residue in the water that within 24 hours leaves a ring around the bowl. I carefully ran water through them first as instructed, but still have the problem on both of the filters I've used from the 3-pack. The original had no such issue. Odd, and disappointing.

Having tried other automatic water filtration systems, this one works as well as any other. I do like the large water volume (which is much simpler to refill) and the easy change filter system. The filters do not last quite as long as some other systems but the system is much easier to maintain.
