Like many of the reviewers, I have watched the original Dark Shadows and have become a fan. It's hard to compare the original with the revival since the original was shot in the 60's and it was a low budget soap opera, while the Revival Series was shot in the 80's as a weekly series and it features lavish costumes and settings. But I have enjoyed watching both, except for the excessive blood in some of the scenes on the Revival Series. I recommend buying this DVD whether someone has seen the original series or not. Highly suspenseful!

Although Ben Cross will never eclipse Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins, the show has its moments. Dan Curtis wanted to redo the show the way he thought it should have been done originally. Both shows stand on their own. It is worth owning.

This was an excellent but very short-lived series of 13 episodes. After you watch it, you will want more. It is great that Tim Burton and Johnney Depp are making a feature film about this series. This collection is a must for fans of the characters.
