Fantastic release.

The girl has amazing skill and vocal presentation. Yes , it is very reflective of 60's style soul , and Amy Winehouse-ish , both strong points for a great record.
Not a clunker in the bunch. Do yourself a favor and buy this.

There are lots of good songs here, but most of them are not nearly as "fierce" or fast-paced as Mercy. The style of these is very 60's soul-ish and is sometimes referred to as "blue-eyed soul" because the singers are White. The songs are very pleasant and easy to listen to (lots of violins, beautiful singing). I think that the last song on the first disk (Distant Dreamer) deserves more attention. Don't pay any attention to reviewers who say Mercy is the only decent song here, unless you really don't like slower songs. In that case you might want to listen to Rockferry and a few other songs on here before buying.

This is what music should sound like. The additional songs are so worth the money, I've already listened to "Oh Boy" dozens of times. I do not hesitate in recommending this album... Duffy is perfect.
