They're Gonna Make It After All - At Your Expense, February 11, 2009
SEE FINAL(?) UPDATE BELOW
Fox is testing it's ability to cheat the consumer. They want to see how many fools are out there. They have released the first four seasons and now are holding the remaining seasons hostage. They believe that you will re-buy everything you already bought, to get those remaining seasons. DON'T DO IT!!
If you buy this set - whether or not you own the first four seasons - you will be telling not only Fox, but all studios, that they can trick you into buying a few seasons and then make you buy them all over again to get the remaining seasons. This will happen with every show.
I assured you all in a previous review of one of these seasons that Fox would release the remaining seasons. TV shows are one of the few profit centers left for these studios. Do not buy this set. They WILL release the remaining separate seasons when they realize that you won't tolerate this unethical behavior. You should realize, just by looking at this attempt, that their greed will not allow them to lose sales. If you don't buy this set, they will release the remaining seasons individually.
Be patient, but firm. If you break down, now, every separate season show you own will end up this way.
UPDATE:
Very glad to see so much support on this. So many negative reviews will provide good market information to Fox. It will tell them that; once the few fools that will buy this set at any price are done, there are much larger numbers of potential buyers willing to buy the remaining seasons outside of this package. Fox will then either release the final three seasons separately or reduce the price of the package into the $60 area ($20 each for the final three seasons).
Some reviewers seem to be fearful of angering Fox. To those reviewers: please rest assured that Fox has no emotions, they only care about maximizing revenue. Clearly, much money has been spent, by Fox, to prepare the final three seasons. They will not withhold them now and will offer them separately if/when the package does not meet their expectations.
Fox may not be too affected by the loss of sales on this one show. However, if all of their single-season releases stopped selling, they would take a hard hit. I suggest that any of you that are willing to do so, search Amazon for all Fox shows and cite this unethical behavior. Refer them to this web page for proof. Warn people on the other Fox single-season sites that they should not buy any Fox single-season releases or they will be orphaned.
FINAL(?) UPDATE - mid May 2009
Fox has announced their plans to release season 5 separately. You will find it available on Amazon for pre-order. Those of you that refused to accept Fox's attempt to extract double-buying from you have won. Expect the remaining two seasons to follow. Fox made the investment to re-master all of the remaining seasons, tried to get us to re-buy everything, failed (because so many of you resisted), and are releasing 5-7 separately to realize the sales.
Now, it is important to support your positions and pre-order season 5. Doing so will ensure release of season's 5, 6 and 7. Yes: season 5, because it is likely that Fox is testing your willingness to buy season 5, as they have not officially announced it's release. If Fox doesn't see you ordering it, they will find the better option is to remain with the complete set only.

This changed the way I buy DVD's, February 6, 2009
I am now very cautious about the way I buy TV Shows now on DVD. This is most irritating. I understand the need to make $$, but it did not need to be this way. Fox KNOWS that they would have sold MANY of the individual volumes, as YES, many (would love to know how many!) are waiting to complete their sets. We all LOVE this show. How dare you ONLY release them as a set, after ALL THIS TIME! You will win this one (in a GREEDY WAY), but you will ultimately lose many potential future sales of early volumes of popular shows as many of us will simply WAIT for the whole set. It all leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

One star for Fox not the show!, February 6, 2009
Those of us who already own seasons 1-4 undoubtedly comprise the majority of MTM-dvd-buying consumers. What a shabby way to treat established customers!
