SRCP have worked with Pharoahe Monche, Andre 3000, John Legend, Black Eyed Peas, Talib Kweli, Dilla, Fonzworth Bentley, Heavy D, Common, Iggy Pop, Herbie Hancock, Dr. Dre, Jill Scott, and Jurassic 5. 4.0 out of 5 stars Potential finally realized., June 23, 2009
By Tom Powers (California) - See all my reviews
For me, this is the first true album from SA-RA. Everything I've read about this and their previous releases - they're always made to be the saviors of soul/hip-hop music. This album finally makes me see that the potential to be that "next great thing" is there.

Stand outs include "Melodee N'Mynor", "Dirty Beauty", "Bitch Baby", "I Swear", "Gemini's Rising" and "Love Czars" (OH MY!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than the Hollywood Recordings, July 31, 2009
.... and I really enjoyed the Hollywood Recordings. This is one of the best hip hop oriented releases that I've heard in years. From the Brazilian style, Azymuth-esque "Spacefruit" to the absolutely sublime "Love Czars", to the jazz funk of "Cosmic Ball" (featuring jazz legend Gary Bartz), this disc has it all. They even snuck in a great cover of one of my favorite Sly & the Family Stone songs, "Just Like a Baby". Great drum programming and synth work as usual from the Sa-Ra guys, but the real surprise here is the sweet, funky bass work of up and coming bass player Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner. This is a phenomenal album, and If you have a taste for experimental hip hop/soul/funk, then pop this in the changer, pour a glass of whatever you like, light something up, and take the ride with the Sa-Ra boys.

3.0 out of 5 stars Higher Expectations, September 3, 2009
I was slightly disapointed by these guys. I was really impressed with their frist album "The Hollywood Recordings." Now that was an excellent album. It's obvious these guys are looking for a slightly advanced, futuristic sound. It came natural in the first album and although they may have had more guest appreances from other singers and rappers such as Erica Badu, Talib, Jay Dee, etc., they seemed to develope a signature sound.

When I saw that second album was availible, I jumped on it. I thought it would even be better because it was a double album. I was mistaken. It seems that they are now going for a more R&B sound and they are reaching a little too much. Dont forget, this group consist of three different producers so it should be a major amount of creativity. I did not find it on this album. They need more songs like "Trafickka" on the album. To me that's classic Sa-ra
