Instant connection!, June 25, 2009
Ms. Lowndes is one of the foremost authorites on interpersonal connections. She really got it right with this book as well. It's about to really make that first impression connection which is so imporant and vital to a relationship. Includes is 96 little tricks that make a big impact. I learned so much from this great book that I am defintely going to keep it in my permanent collection. I found that when I used this one in conjunction with Lucky In Love, Lucky In Life: How To Be Wanted-Use the Law of Attraction to Date the Man You Most Desire and Live the Life You Deserve I got some great results. Don't pass this one up! It's defintely worth the read, to say the least.

POWERFUL, PERCEPTIVE, PRODUCTIVE, AND FUN!, April 26, 2009
If you liked "How to Talk to Anyone," you'll love this book. There are 96 extraordinary techniques to connect with people very quickly.
I've been a fan of Leil Lowndes a long time and pre-ordered this book. It came just in time because last Saturday night I had to go to an event where I hardly know anyone. But, using one of her techniques, which she calls "Little Tricks," everybody thought I was very well connected. I used another one to encourage people to make the first approach to me. I made several new friends and think I got a new client. (I'm in sales.) It was a very successful night thanks to her Little Tricks. Here are some of the networking ones I used.
Stand in the center of the room because that's where the most important people gravitate. When you shake hands, place your forefinger gently on people's pulse so they subliminally sense a stronger connection with you. When people give you their business card, make them feel important by holding it with both hands, and glancing at it once or twice while speaking with them. You can also use an eye contact technique while they're talking to make people respect you. Then ask some of Leil's "never fail conversation starter questions." It really gets them going. When the conversation is over, make your "good-bye" more upbeat than your "hello." It makes people feel you really enjoyed meeting them.
There are also sections on communicating in writing, email and phone. For example,
LETTERS: Always sign them in blue ink. Professional direct marketing letter writers have proved it makes your signature 21% more prestigious.
E-MAIL: Always use your recipient's name in your last sentence, preferable as the very last word. Seeing their name there makes them feel more connected to you.
CELL PHONE: Hold it like a singer manipulates a microphone and vary the distance from your mouth. That way you can, say, give a big laugh at their jokes without blasting their ear off. Or sound intimate by practically brushing your lips against the phone so they hear your breath.
The originality of the Little Tricks is phenomenal I can't wait to use some of the others. All in all, it's a great book. I highly recommend it.

Even Shy People Can Use These Little Tricks!, September 30, 2009
I just finished How to Instantly Connect with Anyone. It was an excellent read. I am a bit on the shy side myself. but am running a business So many of the author's Little Tricks are gemstones! Some, of course, I can incorporate right away. Others will take a little more time and practice to get them just right. But all of them will endear me to other people, good for running a service based business! The book a great service to others.
.
There are lots of clever little tricks in the bag that I wouldn't have necessarily put into words, so the book is a great help!
The book's "men need to sit facing the door trick" is so very true. I also prefer to sit facing the door, but give that privilege to the man if I am with one, especially in a restaurant. I would add that if he is more versed in the menu selections, to let him order for you. An old fashioned, chivalrous gesture, but one that makes him feel important!
When I found this book, I was perusing through the book store and already had a book in my hand (I usually try to buy only one at a time, otherwise, I would spend all my money and buy half the store!), but something brought me over to the "relationship" section--not a place I spend a whole lot of time. I knelt down and pulled the book off the shelf. Usually, for me, if I actually pull a book off the shelf, it probably means I need to buy it. So when I pulled this one off the shelf, I was contemplative, especially since I already had a different book in my hand.
I thought for a moment what my main goal of the moment was and decided it was getting my business up and running successfully. When you have been a shadow dweller for such a long time, sometime the Sunshine can feel scalding. So I am learning to bask in the Sunshine.
I made the right choice!
