5.0 out of 5 stars Movie Maven Mary Ann Makes Me Merry, June 15, 2009
By Mike Barrett (Long Island City, NY United States) - See all my reviews
Mary Ann Johanson, aka The Flick Filosopher, writes insightfully, thoughtfully and well about movies. Her title may be a little misleading though. "Filosopher" makes me think of someone locked away in an ivory tower, more concerned with ideas than emotions. As a self-proclaimed "geek" Mary Ann loves ideas, especially cool science fiction and comic book ideas portrayed in an interesting way on film. But the way a movie moves her is equally important. Her personal style is a joy to read, and although we don't always agree on the finer points, she's never recommended a stinker, or shot down a work of genius in my experience.
