5.0 out of 5 stars Released Finally, July 13, 2009
By Andrew Ingram "Nick and Jeromana" (Where No Man Has Gone Before...) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I can't say for certain when this product was released, but judging by the reviews prior it came out quite recently. I have to say it has always been important to me that they would finally release ALL the original Digimon Seasons on DVD (and not those bootleg amatuer releases)... Though it seemed to take them a long time for the First one, it came out very nicely. Even though the series was edited in the US, the developers of the DVD did what they could to restore the original glory to the animation including original texts. It made a big difference. Also, unlike the FOXs attempt years ago, each episode seems seamless between commercial breaks... though there are some obvious breaks. The Second set took almost over a year to release, which when I saw it, I had hope that the third and fourth would soon follow. It's almost been a year or so again and they finally released the third and fourth... Talk about taking forever.
As it would have it, the producers decided to release these box sets as LE releases, which boosted up the value exponentially. Unlike other Anime Classics that made it to DVD this is going to forever be a novelty that when it's gone only those who have copies will remember the charm that this show had.
I experienced the years between Pocket Monsters and Digital Monsters, there is no comparison. When it came to games Pocket Monster had the numbers, but when it came to story, art, and intelligence Digimon really pulled ahead. It was unfortunate that the original animators quit before the 5th Season was released.--That is ONE season I can do without.

If you don't have this it's a must get NOW before they go up in price because of scarcity. Also, if you don't have the first two, it's a must have as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Digimon Limited Edition Collectors Box Set: The Complete 3rd Season (Digimon Tamers), June 2, 2009
Digimon Tamers is the third season, which is another complex storyline with brilliant characters and lots of humour. The previous two seasons are seen as a TV show in Tamers.

The chosen children, Tamers are facing the D-Reaper, a misguided program that got mutated and is now going to destroy two worlds.

The main characters are Rika, Henry and Takato. However, other characters such as Jeri, Ryo, Kazu, Kenta and Suzie are also quite important. It takes place mostly in the real world, much like season two.

3.0 out of 5 stars Digimon Tamers is good...DVD Boxset not so much, November 3, 2009
By Mike Schorn "Rezo the Dezo" (APO, AE United States) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just so you know, the rating above does not reflect my opinion of the show itself (which I would rate higher), but of this long-overdue DVD boxset that finally brought "Digimon Tamers" into my household.

For starters, I should point out that yes, this probably is a bootleg on account of there being absolutely no credit given to Buena Vista Entertainment or Disney in general. With that said, it's a pretty fine bootleg: the covers of the case are a bit uneven (of course, that may be just my copy), but the box itself is sturdy and discs inside certainly look professionally printed. Each of the five DVDs contains about ten episodes, amassing the complete 51 installments. The audio is 2.0 stereo and the aspect ratio is fullscreen; personally, I think it looks and sounds pretty good, but tech nuts will probably feel ripped off.

Sadly, this set only includes the Americanized version of the show...meaning you're only getting the goofy English dub and the expected censoring (which isn't as noticeable as it was in, say, "Dragon Ball", but it's disappointing nonetheless). There are also no subtitles, so there's really no way around the overly kiddy vocal performances that'll eventually get on the nerves of everybody over nine years old.

In all, this set is worth owning for fans that are either too smart or too scared to download the original cuts illegally, but it's not the full Digimon experience. However, since it's not likely that Disney is going to release the series by themselves, in its entirety (and almost certainly not in its original format), this is definitely the best bet for fans willing to shell out a chunk of money.
