COMPLETELY Satified, September 26, 2009
This review is from: Wacom Bamboo Fun CTE650K Black Tablet with Pen, Mouse & Graphics Software (Factory Refurbished)
I am like most other people where I can afford SOME things but not that expensive. I need to learn how to draw, so I wanted a tablet and maybe even some books to aid me. However looking elsewhere I found things cost quite a bit. I jumped over to amazon.com to see this, a refurbished model for only $100. That is a great deal from the original $200 retail price. I ordered it and it came quickly, within 2 days, and to my surprise it looked completely new. I plugged it in and it worked immediately, I fiddled with it but before I went into deep drawing I installed the drivers and software it comes with. They all installed smoothly and without problems. Wacom was always the best I heard so I was delighted to see this tablet work wonderfully. It draws like an actual pencil on paper, it is fantastic. An this is with limited sensitivity. The intuos4, another more professional and expensive tablet of Wacom, has 4x the sensitivity. Once I work with this tablet I am definitely moving over to that series.
In short, the product came in swift and new. It is extremely useful to those who would like to draw or edit photos. Highly recommend this from J&R for 50% off.

Great, Cheap, Compatible!, January 4, 2010
This review is from: Wacom Bamboo Fun CTE650K Black Tablet with Pen, Mouse & Graphics Software (Factory Refurbished)
Note: I'm a casual user, so professionals probably won't find this a useful review.
I was looking for a tablet to make it a bit easier to do web design and flash game, as well as simple drawing and digital art. I was pleased to find this refurbished model for 1/2 price, for $100. I had purchased another $99 Wacom tablet as a gift, and was pretty disappointed at the size of the active area.
This tablet has a nice big area for drawing, giving a fairly good ratio of pen-stroke to on screen motion, even with a 20" widescreen monitor. I take pretty good care of my tablet, but it's been handled roughly at times, and the area appears to be fairly scratch resistant.
It has some hotkeys, like to open apps, zoom, and browser navigation. However, I never use these, as I've got similar functionality on my mouse and keyboard. In addition, it comes with a cimple two button mouse that I never use, so I can't comment on that.
The pen is good, registers tilt and pressure, has an eraser, and a couple buttons to do things like right click, etc... when using pen as a mouse. Things you'd expect from a basic tablet, it does, and as far as I can tell, does well.
As to compatibility, I've used this tablet on Windows XP, Vista, and 7, as well as Ubuntu. Vista and 7 come with added UI tools for using the pen to navigate, such as pen flicks to scroll, etc... as well as handwriting recognition for writing notes, etc... I've tried them, and they're okay, but I prefer my mouse for navigation. This tablet works plug and play, and I've used it in both Photoshop and Gimp without a hitch.
The only problem I've come across is when using Windows Vista or Windows 7, for some reason I can't put the computer in Sleep when the tablet is plugged in. It will go into sleep, then immediately wake up. The simple fix is to just unplug the tablet before Sleep, and it will be fine. Or, just shut down your computer normally.
For the price, this is an excellent tablet to buy for anyone looking to get started with digital art, web design, etc... Had it been $200, I would give it 4 1/2 stars, still an excellent product.
