If you are like me, and highly admire and respect the tireless work of people like Les Stroud and Edward Michael 'Bear' Grylls, It won't take you long to see that 'Man, Woman, Wild' is of that high caliber! I watch ALL survival shows. They all have their special qualities and reveal certain abilities and human character. I purchased 'Man, Woman, Wild' because I'm so hooked. I respect planet Earth and survival is a dying art, a living craft. There is something very special about the husband and wife dynamic when it comes to survival. They have to pull together as a team no matter what. I just hope their marriage can survive all that 'Man, Woman, Wild' put them through! She (Ruth England) is adorable and very down to earth, yet willing to do anything for her husband. He is a realist with a slightly hidden humor that seems to come out when it comes to his wife that he loves, and puts first. He (Mykel Hawke) served our country in the US Army Special Forces and is a survival expert. Her background is in broadcasting, a television journalist. Opposites attract. Watch this show, you will be hooked too. When it comes to survival, you do or die. They put it all on the line for this show. You can learn a lot about staying alive when the going gets the best of you. I hope what ever endeavors lay ahead, I wish them both the very best.

My son and I love watching this show together. They are educational and entertaining. They are so real in their situations and interactions. Some talk negatively about their marriage by what they see on this show, but I think they show exactly how social dynamics play out when you're starving, dehydrated, tired, miserable from the elements and trying to survive! When they have food and water they go right back to being sweet and loving. This would happen to everyone. Kudos to the Hawkes for putting themselves out there in this light. Thanks for a great show!

My husband and I love watching this show together. The interactions between Mike and Ruth are funny, touching, and sometimes dramatic. Plus, it never hurts to learn a thing or two about survival. Too bad the show only lasted 2 seasons.

What a team! They are hilarious! I think they should do several thousand more shows and show off their stuff - I guess I've said enough!

I'd give season 1 5 stars easily. And while I like the second season, the editing shows a lot more "drama". I understand that people are under a lot of stress in a survival situation, but its not necessary what I want to see in my TV shows ABOUT survival.

Otherwise, I love the pace and premise of this series. I have a lot of respect for the characters, film crew, and even writers. Each episode is entertaining. Just a tad too much bickering in this season. I'd try one more season. But if there is still the same edit style, I think I'd stop.

this sea episode is neat because they never touch land
from start to finish, the show is filmed on the water

mykel nearly went down from the sun and dehydration
they used the enema technique he was taught in special forces
and wrote about in his book, long before anyone else did it on tv
point of fact, another did it on tv right after his book about it came out...

hawke has a small wrestle with a shark trying to keep his rope
and there is some interesting osmosis and fire teaching in this one.

an overview of the shows in comparison-
all of the survival shows have merit
none deal with having to help each other
one has alot of cool but dangerous stunts
one has 2 experts, but they never sleep out there
one has a solid guy, but he avoids hunting and alot of nutrition as a result
not slamming any, just pointing out facts often overlooked by those who are already fans
many folks beat this show up because a woman is in it
they over look the fact that she does everything
and likely has more dirt time and experience than most
people who complain about a woman or a man's voice are just silly
the man can't help his voice, he doesn't act macho at all
seems some of these reviewers are rating not the show for content and quality
but their own personal biases based on their own personal issues.

these shows teach more examples of how to do things than most shows
and cover all the principles in every show, that are often neglected or ignored by other shows
for a great example of working together and seeing it through,
these are solid shows

the man's experience is real and the shows are good.

I like Man,Woman,Wild, I like it a lot, but if we were comparing survival programs like music, this one would be 'bubble gum pop'. Ruth and Mykel are great together, informative and fun to watch, but I'd have to mark them down on real life survival points. No, not due to having 'support' at hand, all of them do with the exception of Les Stroud, but he still has close by back-up. It's simply not where it needs to be to sustain life when the unthinkable happens. In this segment Mykel is hauling a backpack full of stuff and has bear spray...in real life probably not so much. For me, for real down and dirty survival in more realistic situations it's Cody Lundin and Dual Survival all the way. My guess is, if you're watching Man, Woman, Wild, you're watching the other shows too so you're getting an all round 'education' of sorts. Pick up tidbits where you may because you never know which one will save your life. This program is good for picking tidbits and it's entertaining to boot. It's a win/win.
