Bluefin tuna is an amazing fish. I truly enjoyed watching the passion that these fishermen bring to their task. The personalities are interesting and diverse. You can also learn a few things/tips around fishing if you pay attention. I think they did a good job to fit the footage from a few days (or a week) of fishing into a single episode. The DVD also has a short documentary about the sustainability of the fishery. Although the documentary seems be much older than the actual episodes, it was a good reminder that we need to be responsible with the resource.

My mistake in not looking into the language content of this series before purchasing. The stories are awesome, the footage is awesome, the fish are awesome! Unfortunately, the language is horrible throughout. Some episodes worse than others, and some fishermans language is worse than others. There is alot bleeped out, but still much that remains. I find this inappropriate for our families taste. However, for some I know this would not be a concern.

One fisherman, Marciano, seems to have better language, overall, and also shows some good character with family values occasionally. Otherwise, most of the rest of the fisherman do not show much for kindness. Some ruthless competition, and selfishness are portrayed. No sexual content or physical violence in season 1. Verbal drama and expressed hatred/disdain throughout.

This review is for season 1, which I have watched all of. I cannot review any other seasons, as I have not seen them. They may be worse or better... do not know. The action and storyline and footage on season 1 was really great, and we really enjoyed that part. Minus the language and we would have bought all seasons. Obviously, families are not the target for this series. If language is not a concern for you, and you like reality shows with action, or interested in fishing of any kind...you will enjoy this.

Ok, Ok, OK, I know... easy on the Boston accent Pal. However, I just couldn't help myself. As someone who grew up just outside of Boston and only 30 minutes South of Gloucester (pronounced Glahsta) I love every minute of this show. The stories are real, the people are true to the area and the fishing is great to watch... and I don't even like to fish!

This show isn't quite as exciting as Deadliest Catch because its obviously not as harrowing an experience. However, do not mistake that Tuna fishing off the coast of Massachusetts and Maine at anytime of the year is a potentially life threatening experience. I mean absolutely no disrespect to these Fisherman by saying that there experience is not as harrowing as the Guys crab fishing out in the Bering Straits... its the equivalent of saying that being a Army Ranger is less harrowing an experience than being a Navy Seal... they both are ridiculously harrowing compared to the vicious paper cut I may get a my job!

This is a great show where you tune in each week to see the hardships that these folks go through to make a life in this world. Of course, you also tune in for the money. You want to see these people catch fish and then pull up to the dock and find out how much they made. It's an exciting lifestyle that is filled with a lot of gambles and yet, at the same time, a lot of the same mundane aspects of life that everyone deals with are lurking in the background, except their office is the Ocean. With all of you find yourself pulling for these folks because of the risks they take.

I love the Ocean... I love Boston... and I love wicked good times. Wicked Tuna.

Tuna fishing is not an easy game. Watching professionals is a great way to learn. I've watched every episode at least 3 times. When is season two coming out?
