Spoilers alert. Series four, A&E for some reason canceled this amazing series with a cliff hanger that will NEVER be answered. Series four ended with Jim gravely injured and then we find out the writers and staff were fired that day and there is not a series five and so I would caution people about buying this and season four as it is ended with no finesse. Bad form A&E.But if you can ignore the terrible ending this series is well worth it. The acting is great and the cases he solves are interesting. The love angle is a bit bleh but I promise in season four it fixes itself.

Looks like another good show has been dumped by its respective cable network so they can inundate us with yet more crappy reality shows. It is a dirty rotten shame that the American viewing public has to contend with the trash being put forth these days since it appears the writers and producers are too stupid to come up with anything except reality shows for brain dead folks or T&A or blended suck face or worse sex shows. There are a few exceptions but the trash far outweighs the good.

If every episode of The Glades wasn't cut from the same cookie cutter this cute show could be much better, but unfortunately you know exactly what you are going to get before the show starts and i do mean exactly.

Body is found. They get a clue. Each suspect points them to another suspect. When the show has about eight minutes to go, like musical chairs, they get a clue that leads them to a penultimate suspect --- but wait, they interpreted the clue wrong but fortunately their suspect points them in the right direction allowing them to make an arrest and give Jim and Callie two minutes for sweet talk.

Nonetheless, despite its predictability and the fact that the banter is not on the level of many other comedy dramas, I like the characters and find it the show almost addictively soothing.

This is not a show to watch to try and solve the mystery its a comedy - sort of. Mind candy, really.

First I'll say that I've really liked this series so far. The first two seasons were intertaining, and the casual Jim character is refreshing after all the hardcore bad-a$$ types you see on other cop shows. He's laid back, funny, irreverent, relatable (no slicked-back, suit-wearing GQ model types here.) Possible semi-spoilers may follow.

Season 3, however...I'm a little let down. Most annoying for me is a copious amount of cheesy product placement that they actually write into the script. Some episodes are like watching REALLLLLY long commercials. Kia vehicles are prominently in the spotlight, and shamelessly hawked in the dialogue. A main character and her son are unloading stuff from the back of an SUV when he remarks, "Wow I can't believe it all fit." She responds, "Yeah, with my new Optima it was just a matter of moving the convenient 3rd row seat..." Seriously. Several other episodes bring more of the same: While talking on the phone, "Oh that's nobody, just the satellite radio in my Kia" or trying to cheer up a sulky son, "Jeff we have like 300 stations now, or you can listen to your MP3's--even watch a DVD!" as the camera zooms in on the Kia logo. A whole scene is filmed with the boss-lady cop driving and pulling into a dark, deserted parking lot. You wait for the bad guy to show up at her driver's side window or jump her when she gets out, but no...the entire scene is there so you can watch the side view mirrors fold themselves up against the side of the vehicle when the car cuts off. Another close-up of the logo, the scene abruptly cuts, and it's back to the actual story line. This is all through the season: cars, Reese's Pieces, Red Bull, Mt. Dew, you name it.

I'm hearing-impaired and can't believe there are no subtitles on the Season 3 DVD. They should be on everything anymore. They were on Season 1 & Season 2, so why not this Season? In addition, all the inside packaging was broken up. Having been on vacation, etc., I was late opening this and have missed the return deadline. A total waste of my money. NOT happy about any of this.

I was looking forward to buying this set back in the spring just before the new season started, only to find out that A&E were not giving it an actual release but a MOD release. Then I come to amazon to find out that people that ordered it where only getting 1 disc and not the whole season. I waited a while then took a chance and ordered it. When it arrived I was pleased to see that it was the complete season with all 3 disc's. It seems that amazon has corrected their mistake. All disc's played fine and look pretty good for a DVD. All in all I would recommend this set as its the only was to get season 3 and probably season 4 next year.

When last we left the characters of The Glades, they had just finished a hostage situation and the love interest was trying to go off to another job to further her career. After that kind of drama as a finale, the longer relationship arcs are left hanging and in something of a blah fashion in this opener. The mystery of the week however, is quite fun and involves UFOs, blond wives who may or may not be goldiggers and various, nefarious plots for our hero to sort out. Like I said, a lot of fun, but more attention should have been paid to some of the longer arcs that were set up. Still more than worth seeing.
