Since Amazon has reminded me that I watched this in December, I'll say it was better than I expected it to be. The screenplay is very attentive to the lives of young girls at a vulnerable point of transition -- acting like grownups but still children underneath. Subtle hints of the excellent '90s movie Ice Storm abound, in the setting, but this is not a copycat film. Great to see Timothy Hutton again; Chole Sevigny always a solid actor, too; though her range might not kind of narrow, she is very good at portraying women who live in rarefied environments. Why was I so surprised the film was enjoyable? Because director/writer Tara Subkoff (I think is name) comes out of the fashion industry. She had a very "street/cool/hip/whatever" clothing line a decade or so ago, and I thought for that reason this would be strictly a vanity project. I was wrong.

I thought #HORROR was a pretty great movie in just about all respects. The first one was the cast! What an excellent ensemble of talent, all in one good, creative and on the money in our present "social media"-ized world. I'm not too sure what crime this movie was supposed to be about unless it was loosely based on the 12 year old girls who stabbed their "friend" numerous times to impress the "Thin Man"on-line, who was only some character that someone dreamed up but that these girls thought was real or they had gone so into their own fantasy world that they had almost willed themselves to believe he was real! I think it had a lot of similar characteristics of that crime as well as all of the suicides, etc., that have been in the news over cyber-bullying, which is a pretty horrible thing to do to someone. The house all open and made of glass way in the middle of nowhere was a clever place to have all of this action take place.I thought all of the teen girls did a super job portraying the rich, spoiled brats that they were supposed to be. I liked the scene when they locked up their cell phones to see what they could then, find to actually do. The Honesty Game that one of the girls brought up was touching, to me. The more all of the girls opened up, the lonelier and sadder they got, as they talked about parents too busy making money to pay attention or too messed up on Rx pills or booze to "be there" for their kids and I feel like that is when I started to care what might have happened to these girls, once they got rid of all of the superficial crap around them and I, personally, then saw just a bunch of insecure, scared preteens, trying to grow-up or some of them forced to grow up too soon due to the unhappiness in their parents' and their lives.Read more ›

This new entry from IFC Midnight is a Horror/thriller about a group of 12 year old girls who are having a sleepover at a luxurious house set in the snowy woods. The snow makes for both a beautiful and creepy setting. The house itself is the star of the film with it's huge glass windows everywhere and lot's of modern, pop art, throughout.

I was obsessed with the Marilyn Monroe piece that had a sliced boiled egg in loo of her face. This film was said to be based on a true story. It's mainly about bullying ,cyber and real time as well.It isn't very gory but there are a couple of kills that are somewhat bloody.

The cast was amazing. Chloe Svengny,Timothy Hutton and a very small role for Taryn Manning. The young girls did a believable job at being vicious, cruel spoiled brats as well. They kept showing a series of graphics that had the look of Twitter ,Candy crush and Tinder. As the masked killer stalks them the images are being submitted online and rack up a bunch of likes. It seems the more violent the more likes they receive.

The film had somewhat of an arthouse feel to it with scenes such as the girls putting on artistic yet creepy masks and dancing. There is a lot of catty dialogue about who's fat, who's gay.Who might not be a virgin or who lives in the "poorer section of town". Basically anything that they can use as ammunition.

I was entertained and might even watch it again. The wintery shots combined with the art and the movie itself are enough to make it quite memorable.

Boring and chaotic at the same time, but definitely "horror" only in the title - not in the film.

If you are looking for a bizarre, non-linear movie that's more art house film than your standard fare, you might like this. No real plot, nor any horror, nor and scares - not a psychological level, nor... any level. It's really just a boring journey through a director's vision of a story that seems to only exist in his head.

I certainly bought into this one, given the trailer and the amazing cast - but, this one is going to disappoint a great many people. Fair warning...

Not my favorite type of movie where the whole thing seems out of place especially until the end, but NOTHING gets explained until the end and when that happens it is very vague. Not bad, but not something I would watch again.
