Product Description
This general text provides an overview of the development, production, properties and applications of today's modern polymeric fibres, giving an insight into the Japanese viewpoint of this rapidly emerging technological field. Information is provided on Japanese studies of the way fibres are naturally produced, and how nature can be improved, such as silk produced by silkworms minced to produce a superior fibre. A new synthetic process, which, while retaining the primary qualities, improves the structure of wool, leather and other fibres, is reviewed and the importance of retaining the sense of touch and smell which make the natural product attractive to the consumer is emphasized.
