5.0 out of 5 stars Databanks in a Free Society by Westin and Baker, January 12, 2004
This work contains just about every practical consideration
in the formulation and design of databanks. It is perfect
for a team of people designing a new system in an organization.
The work contains:
o Profiles of World Organization databanks
o United States Government databanks
o Commercial and Nonprofit Organization databanks
o Sample site visitations by systems specialists
o Future directions and a technological forecast

The authors cite the citizen's right to access his/her records
as critical in an information society. In addition, a whole
variety of data processing controls is introduced to help
organizations computerize while adhering to the constitutional
protections so vital to preserving our freedoms. The book
is a good reference for a wide constituency of users. i.e.
systems designers, government and private sector policy-makers
and a host of other interested parties
