Format: Hardcover
Along with Randy Shilts's "And the Band Played On," Timothy Murphy's "Ethics in an Epidemic" is essential reading for anyone interested in this complex topic. Murphy expertly weaves the multi-dimensional aspects of HIV/AIDS - health care, human rights, policy, politics, money, ethics, and law - in such a way that readers will appreciate why this disease challenged 20th and 21st century thinking about how to address the most important pandemic since smallpox. I highly recommend it and have required it in the college public health courses I teach. Positive feedback from my students confirms the wisdom of my choice and is a testament to Murphy's scholarly writing.
