They say never judge a book by it's cover. But that is precisely what I did with A Crack in Forever. At 20 years old whilst in the bookstore randomly one day I picked up this book because I thought the cover was pretty. I read the first chapter standing in the store and left intrigued.

A week or so later I was in the bookstore again with my Dad and showed it to him. When we walked out, he handed me a package and said 'suprise'. It was the book.

I think I read the book in the next couple of days - I found it very hard to put down. I lay on my bed and the tears streamed effortlessly down my face. I have never cried so much whilst reading a book either before or since. Upon finishing the book, I went to help my Mum with dinner. I was still sobbing and she was most concerned.

I have lent this book to many friends and recommended it to countless others. Each of them have experienced the same love for the characters and the gut-wrenching pain at the end.

I only wish Jeannie Brewer would write more. I have searched for more of her works for the past 8 years only to find that she has written nothing else. arrrggghhh!

A truly beautifully written book. It felt so real.

I've read hundreds of romantic novels but this is the first one in which I cried helplessly while reading the last 40 pages. I don't have enough words to make you understand how this book made me feel, I just can say that if you like love stories, you won't be able to put this book down until the end.

There is just one problem: Jeannie Brewer hasn't written anything else, so take the maximum profit of this reading and prepare yourself for a long journey to the mysteries of the human soul!

I cried so hard. This book is the only book i have ever known to make me cry. I could not stop crying. I love this book and it touched me in a way no other book has. This book is worth your money and worth your time. Its a very quick read but a very moving one at that. I thought it would be a really bad novel, but once i got into it it was okay. Eric has AIDS i couldn't believe it. I wont give away any part of the story. You wouldnt understand it anyways. Read the book. Think about it.

Just....amazing. I was so touched when I read this book. Jeannies style of writing makes the charachters seem so real to the reader. Her descriptions jump of the page, you feel as if you actually know Alex and Eric. I needed an entire box of kleenex and the book so so worn out as Ive leant it to anyone that will take it off me. Excellent book, a must read!!

This book.. wow. First of all, I like the fact that they don't really talk about clothes, or hairstyles. It makes the book immortal, you don't picture a time period, you don't try to revolve the entire story around what year it is.
Jeannie spent over 100 pages creating a fantastic love story, giving details upon details to make you feel as if you know Eric and Alex. Like you're their friends, she makes you relate to them. And then she slips in the AIDS. It is so subtle, and done so perfectly that as you read on a part of you dies with the end of the book.
I truly know no other way to describe it. It is perfect for all ages. It has sex, but not disgusting, and embarrassing scenes. It has love, tragedy after tragedy. I believe anyone can relate to, and love this book.

Wow. About the only word I can think of that can describe this amazing story of love, journey, and death. From first meeting to final good-bye, Brewer has readers hooked to know the path these two lovers are about to go down. I own this book and have read it many many times. Amazing!!

In my opinion this is the most profound book I have ever been immersed in. I lived the story with the lovers, and I have not been able to forget the love they shared or the heartbreaking end. This book should be required reading by every high school and college student in the country. Perhaps
some readers will change the course their experimental actions might take ignoring what others do. I believe this book is destined to become the
Romeo and Juliet replacement as a true classic.
Ms.Brewer is very gifted. If I didn't know is fiction I would believe she lived the story. Thank you for sharing this with us; now maybe you can talk your husband into making this into a movie!

A Crack in Forever is a unique story of a couple who is dealing with AIDS. We get to see them before the diagnosis, and after. We get to see her point of view, and can vividly imagine his. Most of all, we see a different type of love story. I'm hesitant to call it JUST a love story, but especially the first half, you can't ignore the romantic side amidst the tragedy.

Over-all I loved the book. It was a quick read at only 300 pages- perfect length for the story told. I enjoyed the characters, who I did NOT feel were stereotypical at all- and I read constantly. The only thing I would have liked to see more of was relationships with other people developed more. We got to see the couple, Eric & Alex, we met their parents, siblings, friends- but we didn't really get to know the other people. However, the vivid descriptions of feelings and surroundings made up for what was lacking. There were sentences & paragraphs I felt like highlighting, they moved or touched me so.

I'd definitely recommend this book to someone. Although, if you're not comfortable with AIDS, as some reviewers didn't seem to be, this might be a book to skip.
