5.0 out of 5 stars You won't want to miss this one!, January 17, 2006
By Laurie (OH - USA) - See all my reviews

PI Jack Montgomery traveled from Texas to New Orleans following leads in his search for a kidnapped corporate executive. Those leads take him to the door of psychic, Della Brazille, touted in a newspaper article as being a consultant with police, namely Detective Book Franklin, in the search for the missing exec. Certain that she is a fraud, Jack intends to convince her to walk away from the case and then get on with his investigation. Jack has no intention of being sucked in by her act, and he certainly doesn't expect to be attracted to Della's niece, Perry, who is one of the most beautiful women he has ever seen. Perry is equally attracted to Jack and her heart aches for his painful past, but she is wary of letting her feelings run away after he has made it clear that he isn't interested in anything more than simple sex between them. Della's visions indicate increasing violence against the kidnapped man and it becomes obvious that they need to find him quickly, making Perry realize that her days remaining with Jack are limited, and making her fear that he won't share her feelings.

Alison Kent wraps up the stories of five characters introduced in previous stories with GOES DOWN EASY. Jack and Perry are fiery together and Della and Book are charming secondary characters who are key to the story. The New Orleans setting is excellently written, as is the violence against the kidnapping victim. The light touches of woo-woo with Della's psychic abilities and a resident ghost, are wonderfully creative.

Alison Kent's name on a book is a guarantee that it will be an excellent read, and GOES DOWN EASY is no exception.
